great recipe! but another vinho verde more people outside of portugal need to know about: RED vinho verde. now if only i could find it here in the US..!

we recently did this and for us the trick was: 1. organisation 2. large group of friends.

before everyone showed up, all our boxes were packed, labelled, and ready to go. we did what CARROTSTICKS mentioned - everything was labelled with what room in the new place it should end up in.

we 'invited' about 20 people which was great because no one worked too hard - i think everyone carried 2 boxes at most which means no one felt overworked or annoyed (i hope). the fridge in the new place was filled with beer and we had homemade pizza for all. when everyone left, the new apartment already had all the boxes in the correct location and all we did over the next few days was slowly unpack.

PI's idea sounds like a radical solution but makes a lot of sense to me actually - if you think about your space as a studio, suddenly it seems bigger and much more workable!

Otherwise, I'd go with having kitchen prep area/dining table/work table on the lower right wall parallel to kitchen sink with 4 chairs. That would give you a nice workspace with light plus, as others have said, kitchen prep + eating space. If you were to add a small couch to the left wall, then you could have a nice space for entertaining as well - some people on the couch, others at the table.

In any case, in the bathroom, the little nook right behind where the kitchen stove is seems precious! As for closet space in the bedroom, likes like IKEA's PAX may be your friend, and, again, underbed storage.

On a self-interested sidenote, does anyone know if all "good questions" sent in are eventually posted to the site? I send mine in a month ago and nothing. And it *was* a good question, for me anyway :)

We've been hosting and traveling on Airbnb for the past two years. In over 40+ guests, perhaps one or two were less than ideal, but mostly we've met very interesting people who take great care of the space and enjoy sitting down for a good chat. We keep our Airbnb rentals super clean and try to go out of our way to make people feel happy.

My travels with Airbnb have also been great, though I basically follow the process described above - spend some time on introductions to figure out if this is someone I might like to have a beer with and check to see if the place looks clean and homey. I think the introduction chit chat beforehand is especially important, particularly if you're staying in a room in someone's house.

Oh! And a bit of a sneaky tip: check to see who you're renting from/to by clicking on past reviews they got and looking up who posted them and what your potential guest/host wrote about them. It feels a little like internet stalking, or reading someone else's mail, but it's definitely helpful to know a little bit more about how they interact with others!
