I tried this and was very disappointed! I found it very unwieldy, frustrating, and hard to use. Maybe that's just me, though. I hope you all have better luck.

Ostrich eggs are actually remarkably thick and sturdy. My sister has had one for years, carried it through two moves, and never even a scratch. I think this is a great use of them, and I love the look. But as a few people mentioned, I have never EVER seen an ostrich egg in the supermarket.

My vote goes for a light grey house with black shutters, bright white trim and a bright, shiny red door.

I also like the idea of a white house with dark green shutters and maybe a black door, but I don't know whether white qualifies as an "earth tone." White would also get dirty very quickly and require a lot of power washing :)

I was drooling over the Atlas desk and went to the site, and you're right guys, VERY expensive. The desk shown here doesn't have a price listed, but another desk is almost $8,000. Ouch!

I think the fourth photo in the top row did an especially excellent job of really making tiles look like they were supposed to be there, like they were exactly what the (current!) homeowners wanted from the start. Perfection!

The staircases remind me of that one scene in The Labyrinth with the Escher-like staircase room.

I definitely agree with a deep blue tone for the reupholstery. They are very unique pieces, good find!

Hmm, you know, if you turned the tables in that picture so that the wood grain in the flowers ran the same way as the wood grain on the hardwood floor underneath, it would look almost as if the flowers were cut out and you were looking straight through to the floor!

For movies, I would probably go for a series, like the original three Star Wars movies, The Lord of the Rings, the original Pink Panther movies, or old James Bond movies, and to continue on the Brit-TV theme, Monty Python if your man isn't into the whole Pride and Prejudice thing.

Lots of warm fluffy things.

A deck of cards and instructions for a new game to learn.

Board games like Scrabble or Cranium.

Massage oil.

And like someone mentioned earlier, your favorite alcoholic beverages and condoms ;)
