Having one friend over for some finger food & either a movie or games. Haven't really decided yet, but I'm not much of a planner... But I have local quark cheese, a cheddar-gruyere blend, & crackers, so I'm off to a good start.

Well, seeing as half the books I owned were lost completely by the USPS when I shipped them here when I moved last summer, I'd say I'm done with this task. And yes, I am still bitter, and yes, I'm mad I didn't pay for insurance or tracking. No lecture needed. Lesson. Learned.

Chipilin! No wonder my search didn't have any hits. Thanks for the answers!

@moreneta it's definitely not fenugreek - it's chipilin based upon picture comparison & taste description.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It's a shame my entire bunch wilted within a day of bringing it home, though. :(

So... what if mine is already open & I've eaten half of it? I bought my valencia peanut butter there in July, so I'm pretty sure it falls under the affected time frame. I haven't been sick at all, though...

I moved to Lincoln, NE, for a job this summer. It pays well enough and rent is cheap enough here for me to spend less than 25% of my income on rent. And I work at a non-profit.
There ARE apartment buildings here where the owners must believe we're in SF/NY/Chicago. Lincoln doesn't even have a proper "downtown" (and I hate that), but any apartments near "downtown" cost $1200+. It's ridiculous what people will pay in this place... I live 10 blocks south of "downtown" in a "rougher" part of town (the locals have all warned me that this is not a safe area, but I disagree after being a REAL city-dweller since college) and I pay less than $500 for a huge historic 1 bedroom with a full living room, dining room, kitchen. Hardwood floors. All electric. Water, garbage, & snow removal all paid for. So... what in the world?? How are the other apartments getting away with murder??

I bought a brand new bed from one of those major national chains last May and within ONE month, the box spring was creaking and groaning with every tiny move. Not the cheap-o frame! Just the box spring! And it's not even the springs. It sounds like plastic/cardboard folding. It's so strange. I'm moving this summer and can't take my great pillowtop mattress with me, but whatever, nobody will take the boxspring without the mattress these days anyway. I'm just about ready to put the box spring on the curb, but I don't have a slatted-base bed to support just the mattress.
Needless to say, I won't make the same mistake twice. Too bad they don't have major furniture retailers where I'm moving.

Polenta, rice, salads (as a medium for whatever I feel like cooking)... and unhealthier options like flatbreads, sandwiches, and tacos, I suppose.

Thanks so much, y'all! I've actually been in the house since May 1st and we've had no problems, although I'm still nervous about getting flour in the air when I bake bread. It helps that I like to cook with other people and they enjoy my bread, so I just bake at a friend's instead. It's actually nice to not heat up my own house so much in the summer anyway!

THANK YOU!

Dana,
USDA's FSIS Directive 6030.1 sheds some light on the "For Buddhist Religion" issue. It says, "poultry processed in accordance with Buddhist religious beliefs that require that the head and feet remain on eviscerated poultry" (p. 2). Under X.2.a. the Directive requires that labels must state that the meat was processed under a specific exemption, and that's why your meat says it. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind it, as this is simply the directive. A Google search only turned up three links for "USDA 'for Buddhist religion.'"
