great, humorous article. I discovered once you begin editing it becomes addicting. I moved to a house half the size of the previous one. Held a huge garage sale and kept running out of stuff so I'd run in the house and drag more out. At the end of the weekend I was not only richer but it made my move easier. My home is small and neat now but I am always editing so I never become the clutter bug I once was. Simplicity is my zen. Apartment Therapy On Why Not To Date a Caveman |

beautiful, sleek and dramatic. If I were near a beach, I'd go for whitewashed colors rather than black.. too dark for me, but that's just my personal style. Eileen's Beachside Oasis Kitchen Kitchen Tour |

Gorgeous home! I've been looking at the suburban tract homes and hate the dated oak cabinets they all seem to have. Love yours! Maybe there's a way to simply stain the cookie cutter ones already hanging to get a look similar to yours without the expense. Everything looks wonderful! Adorable & chic! When you decide to mix it up a bit, try putting the bed against the empty wall to the right and getting a room divider to put alongside it. Something like narrow geometric shelves to let the light through. That would define and separate the space more and the bed wouldn't be the first thing guests notice when they visit. Very well done tho! Before & After: Samna Transforms a Studio in 5 Days |

Ok it's a movie but the home that stole my soul is Diane Keaton's beach home from the movie,"Something's Got to Give". Sheer bliss. I Want To Go To There: The Best of Home Design on Television Best of 2012 |

my husband & I we're trying to teach our children there' s more to Christmas than presents so before they got too old, we began focusing on making memories instead. once we went ice skating on Christmas morning, several times we went skiing and always went to a special place for breakfast. the kids are grown now & can't recall most of their gifts over the years but they still have fond memories of Christmas morning adventures. I live in a small loft which is very open and lacks storage space. My 6x8 entry way is the most effecient use of space in the loft. There's a key hook immediately accessible when I open the door. I installed a rustic board with coat hooks along the length of one wall, holding coats, scarves, unbrellas, purses and hats. On the other wall is a custom shoe cabinet which reminds me to remove my shoes and put them away. Saves me from tripping over them later or wasting time searching for them. And the last wall has a small table with a lamp on a timer, so I never come home to a dark home. The table has a drawer holding sunglasses, extra keys and a lint remover. Behind the table is a large mirror to make a quick check before I head out and on the shelf below is a bag I take to the Goodwill when it's full. I am constantly editing my belongings and make a run to the Goodwill several times a year. Getting rid of stuff makes me feel lighter, freer and liberated. Try it! I couldn't decide on a paint color so I had several splotches on my dining room and living room walls for over a year. I finally found someone to finish the paint job for me and it took me minutes to choose the color. It's as if I always knew but was afraid to pick the wrong one, just in case. I paid him $100 to finish and finally, I have one color throughout! Renovation Lessons: Learning To Finish What You Start |

Love eclectic style but not those dining room chairs. Looked like hand me downs or Craigslist rejects. There's a time and place for mismatched chairs (recently divorced, going to college) but nothing I'd actually purchase on purpose. 6 Fall Design Trends with Maxwell YouTube Spaces |

I've been considering purchasing a Nelson saucer light to go over my dining room table. I'm guessing by what 'inneedofmakeover' is saying, there's a hole in the bottom that the bulb goes into. So when the light is on, is there a small 6-8 inch halo of light on my table? Or is there a diffuser inside? Modern Classics: Nelson Bubble Lamps |

... and fresh flowers. I buy a $5 bouquet at Trader Joes and put one spring in a bud vase in the bathroom, another in a bud vase on a table by the entry and the rest on my coffee table. Perfect simplicity, pure bliss. I used to rent an apartment in a large home in the Hawthorne district with a similar kitchen and seeing yours brought back many fond memories. Thanks for the name of paint color. My dining room has 4 different color swatches painted on the wall and I was ready to give up. Pismo Dunes may be the answer!
