I am so happy to see all these cilantro-haters! I can't eat the raw leaves - it is just like eating soap, but worse. When it's cooked in small amounts in a curry or something, I can handle it... but as soon as I get a tiny bit of a whole leaf in my mouth, I feel sick. It's a shame, because I love Indian food, and they put it in everything.

Many of the plants listed above are highly toxic. Check out http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pro_apcc_toxicplants and only bring home plants on their safe list. Also be aware that a lot of plants have many common names. I had a pothos at home, which was not on a toxic plant list that I consulted, but I later found it on this list under another common name (devil's ivy)... so I would only bring home plants that I am sure about now...

Thanks to all for your comments/suggestions. I laughed out loud at the supernanny idea! I guess I just don't have it in me to tell someone to take their feet off my furniture. I just sit there silently grinding my teeth until they do!

P2 - I am glad you said that about the smart table. I knew it was low, and that was my biggest hesitation. Know of any similar ones that aren't so low?

I like the idea of the glass top for the nelson table, but the table is already waaay at the top of my price range, so a custom top is out of the question...

Here's an interesting dilemma that I am dealing with - maybe someone else has had the same issue...

I am currently looking for a new coffee table. I am leaning towards a couple lovely wooden ones (e.g. the Nelson bench). The problem is that I entertain a lot, and many of my friends like to come over and put their feet up (shoes and all) on my coffee table. I used to enforce a shoes-off-at-the-front-door policy, but people thought I was crazy, so I let it go. The problem now is that I am seriously hesitant to buy an expensive wood coffee table because their shoes have scraped the edge of my old one so much that it looks terrible.

I am considering a metal/glass one (e.g. cb2 smart table) just for this reason, but I much prefer the wood.

Suggestions?

I like this apartment a lot, probably because it reminds me so much of my own! I have so many of the exact same things (sofa, lamp, bedspread...) but I am definitely going to steal some of your other ideas!

Which bed is that? It's hard to tell from the lighting, but it also looks a lot like my bed (C&B "Loop").

Anyone know eher I could find these types of lanterns (in a waterproof material and with outdoor-safe electrics) that are safe for a balcony that gets wet?

I saw this in a local store. Was all ready to buy it, and the owner actually convinced me not to. He showed me that it's really difficult to change the lightbulb, and even though it is supposed to take a 75 or 100 watt bulb, the opening is not large enough to get one in, so you have to use a much smaller bulb with a lower wattage. It just isn't nearly as functional as it is beautiful. But it is certainly as beautiful in person as online...

As much as I love to eat artichokes, I don't think I'd be pleased with the smell of this project once complete.

Aren't most berries that you find at florists treated with pesticides? I can't imagine that would be good for the birds...

I have a real antler that I found in my parents' back yard about 10 years ago. It is real and was naturally shed by one of the many many deer that pass through the yard every dawn and dusk. I think it looks great on the bookshelf of my new condo, and it's just a little bit of nature brought with me from my childhood home!
Buying fake resin ones or ones removed from dead deer is a very different thing...

My parents had 8 Breuer chairs... I took them when I moved into my new apartment because they suited my place so well, so they bought themselves wishbone chairs to replace the ones I took. Now I want to trade!

Grrr. I was so happy that we were down to two clicks for a couple days. Now it's back to the triple-click-back :(
I hope the new version of AT has fixed this issue.

I know it's an IE issue, but I am not willing to switch my whole browser so that I can use one website. So I visit much less. Oh well. Hopefully this new improvement will resolve the issue. If not, I suspect my AT use will continue to dwindle down even further over time...

It's been driving me nuts for weeks now, nazrd. I think I've probably spent 1/5 of my normal AT-surfing time since it started. I just don't have the patience for it.
