Whether you meant offense or not, what you stated IS offensive. The term was likely developed by people who never worked in a bakery, or anywhere else for that matter. For quite a long time, the people who baked were working in the home. Cut the attitude down a few notches there.

Bite off the bottom halfish (you generally find a "sweet spot" [har har] for this tactic) in one big bite (I have a large mouth, admittedly), then you get a larger frosting:cake ratio, which is really what I think most people seek. As for the messy, who cares, utilize that wrapper to catch the crumbs, lick your fingers, lick your palms if you gotta, it's a cupcake, it's not meant to be elegantly devoured!

Aren't ALL recipes understood to be "DIY"?
Your headline perturbs me. Just because an item is exotic does not mean you're revolutionary and being all bad with your DIY self by making it, it just means you're expanding your horizons. Golly.

Yep, not every door is this flimsy hollow crap I find in newer apartments. I grew up in New England where most houses I lived in were older, with solid framework and quality doors. Traveling around the country lately, I find more and more places have shoddy construction and these ridiculous hollow doors. Doors are to block sound and insulate both, and these hollow ones don't really do both nearly so well. Oh well.
But yes, I'm quite positive that door can take it. Lovely way of keeping things tidy and still at-hand in the kitchen!

I've never adjusted any recipe for salted, or unsalted, butter. Some recipes I've seen call for it. I generally only buy salted, because it doesn't always end up in baking and instead goes on toast, and I like it to taste... well, like it always tastes. But I wouldn't worry about it. If you do bake something that ends up tasting off because of it, notate the recipe and proceed ;)

Never refrigerated! I don't like it cold, I find it tastes less like soy sauce when it's cold.
