Thank you all! Kline is indeed a Russian Blue and would leap over child-grates no problem. Maybe we can get away with that when he is old and slow. As for now, screens would have to go the entire height of the window, which, because of the sideways opening situation, is problematic. Velcro is a good idea (had also thought about rare-earth magnets, but the frames are not steel). Has anybody had any experiences with velcro screens? Does it hold up well or end up looking mangy? Just this afternoon I was standing on the HVAC unit, painting "tequila lime" around the window in my kitchen (dressed in my usual painting attire of my bra and underwear-----easier to clean than clothing) and I look up to see two little boys waving at me from the window of an adjoining building. Poor kids. Damaged for life. So I would put the film in that window which should have SOMETHING there both for the obvious reason above and because the building next door is ugly and super close. ALSO, with it's leaf motif it would looks ever so splendind with the photo-mural papered tree-lined entrance hallway (which opens into the kitchen and the said window). Oh it would be swell! Thank you for all inspirations. Apartment Therapy - Thursday Giveaway: Strössel Design Window Film |

Even after living in my new (purchased) apartment for over a year, I still have paint splotches on the walls of my bedroom, and am still lacking a carpet. The work-studio still needs lighting. My long-time friends know that this is just how it is---that my homes are in a constant state of transformation, mostly d.i.y., mostly constructed out of magnets, hat-forms, anything Hilti, bits of string, cast-off table-legs and wooden spoons (and more magnets!). Having lived in a 200sf walk-up for fifteen years (bathtub in the kitchen), I am now trying to do things right.....even hiring a contractor (who I LOVED) and desperately attempting to build/paint/decorate in a way that I can live within my space, rather than having to live around it. So even though it's been a year, and I'm still painting, I'm very pleased with the (hugely researched) decisions I've made...the bamboo floors, enormous built-in bookshelf, my dvd projector-instead-of-a-tv. I know way too much about low-voc paints, eco-friendly flooring, mattresses, and carpets, concrete and drywall anchors, and solar power. It's kind of pathetic. This is not a cute or clever pitch. I just spent a month in a fake tree, and that is why you should pick me. Apartment Therapy - Thursday Giveaway: Design Idea Book |
