Are the people who like the before seeing the same pictures as I am? Terrible wallpaper, lack of storage, crummy laminate floors, blue cabinets that may look ok in a blurry photo but are falling apart--why is that better?

The new cabinets are amazing (I'm pretty sure the photos are actually doing them a disservice). Stainless appliances and a splash of color would be nice, but for a house on the market, it's perfect.

The massage therapist probably is going to give you a $100 massage for $40--its an hour of his/her time either way and the point of the discount deal is to get repeat business. They aren't really making anything off the original deal.

As for the design consultant, you're not paying for a set amount of time, but rather a general service, where they really can cut corners and spend less time on you. I'd probably pass.

I like the idea of painting one on a floor cloth or doormat (a bit safer in case you get tired of looking at it).

I really like the silverware! Is there any chance you know what pattern it is?

My grandma couldn't bear to get rid of things, but she was ok with giving them to my mom. My mom would graciously accept bags of stuff, usually keep one or two things, and pass the rest to goodwill or the trash. I suspect grandma may have had some idea that it happened. Sometimes its easier (and kinder) to accept the gifts and get rid of them yourself (this doesn't apply to true treasures or heirlooms, but rather to the knick-knacky stuff that just takes up space that no one wants).
