I used an Amby for both of my daughters, they're safe if you use them correctly. There are more crib deaths (percentage wise) than Amby hammock deaths. Should we recall all the cribs?

Wow! A lot more people do this than I realized! I thought I was strange, my husband sure looks at me like I am when I do this :)

I love, love homemade mac n cheese! But when you have two hungry kiddos and a mountain of dishes to work through before dinner (etc, etc, etc), then boxed it is! No guilt about it.

We did something similar for my daughters 2nd birthday party. Since she is not a huge fan of sweets (like cake and such, I swear she's not from my side of the tree), we had each family bring their favorite piece of fruit instead of a gift. And while everyone was congregating a few of us chopped the fruits up and made a huuuge fruit salad. You would have thought she died and went to heaven, she loved it! Although we did end up with 4 watermelons, so... lesson learned on that part I guess :)

Great article, btw... I am a SAHM with a small side business that occasionally means I don't give my child my full attention. Definitely not in a place of privilege for a nanny, but we make it work. More often than not though, most of my work is begrudgingly done after the kiddos go to bed.

mmm oatmeal... my current favorite version is with a scoop of natural peanut butter (Justin's honey PB is best I think) and banana slices mixed in. Yum :)

Ahh, I heart Pandora :) When my toddler is playing by herself (or jumping on our bed) and wants some music I put on the Toddler Radio station and it's all kids songs (like "Hokie-Pokie" - or however you spell it), random adult/kid songs (like "somewhere over the rainbow"), and some Disney thrown in. She loves it!

Our daughter who wasn't even two had a TON of toys cluttering up our small space that we live in. So for her actual birthday party (more like a gathering of family and really close friends), we asked people to bring a piece of fruit instead of a gift.

The reason we asked people to bring fruit is because she LOVES it so much, so we thought we would make a huge fruit salad at the party. It went over really well with everyone and only one or two people brought her a gift (and fruit).

@spaghettihead - get in line! I'm going to beat you there :)
