It's not glamorous but a hot water bottle works like a charm!

I've been drinking raw milk for 2 years now... I'm in the best health I've ever been in! Raw milk is delicious - rich, alive and deeply satisfying.

My advice to others is to find a dairy, visit it, see how the cows live, see how clean the operation is and talk to the farmers. The milk I drink and trust is from Hendricks Farms and Dairy in Telford, PA - highly recommended! http://www.hendricksfarmsanddairy.com/

Also, the Weston A. Price Foundation is a great source for information about raw milk, be sure to check out their Real Milk website: http://www.realmilk.com/

I started an experiment a few months ago and gave up face wash and toner and moisturizer - I just use a small loofah with no soap on my face and my skin has never looked better! Also I must be saving a fortune there.

Also, Dr. Bronner's is the best - I use the eucalyptus soap for my body with a washcloth. Smells like a spa!

Eucalyptus in bar soap form is sublime.... the smell almost transforms the bathroom into an expensive spa! I love it!

I agree... I've been spending a lot of time in England recently and washing lines are everywhere! It's effortless and people in the USA should really get back on board - it's economical and more gentle on your clothes! A ban seems environmentally irresponsible.

Spring at last!!

Peas, spinach, dill, chives, sage and thyme seeds are already in the ground here in New Jersey. Lettuce is also in the ground with a cold frame over it. Garlic and Asparagus are up, and arugula from last year is coming up too!

Inside, brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, onions, leeks, tomatoes, celery and celeriac are going from seeds to seedlings. Hoping to get radishes and carrots in the ground soon.

I've got some pics here: http://eatmorebutter.blogspot.com/2010/03/garden-thaws-asparagus-garlic-and.html

My parents gave me those wonderfully geeky onion goggles 2 Christmases ago, and let me tell you, they continue to be the best Christmas present I have ever received. I keep my goggles stored with my onions so they are easily accessible. They really do the trick, I have such a bad reaction to onions without my goggles: tears, redness, and my eyes feel bad the rest of the day. With my goggles, I am tear-free! The only side-effect is that my friends make fun of me, but I can live with that...!

I'm back at home.. it's been a couple of months now and so far it's going great. I transformed my childhood bedroom with all of my favorite things from my old apartment and it makes me smile every time I walk in there. I even added some houseplants from Sprout in Brooklyn and the space is cheery and warm with good energy. It's a grown up room that is settled and peaceful, and it's a welcome relief from the time spent under considerable financial stress while I was in my old apartment. Even though I moved home to save and pay down debt, one crucial thing I did to maintain my independence was buy a car, so I wouldn't have to inconvenience mom or dad if I needed to get somewhere for my job (and also so I'd feel like the adult I am!).
