Bitters are wonderful. I like to add Angostura to burgers, chili and other savory soups. Where did that blood orange bitters in the picture come from?

Nice list of recipes - the sunomono and the drunken noodle salad look especially yummy. One of my all-time favorite cold noodle salads is Elise's (Simply Recipes) Sesame and Cilantro Vermicelli. Very easy to throw together and excellent for potlucks.

We just got a reverse osmosis system at Lowes. Haven't installed it yet, though, but they're supposed to be pretty good. I didn't know there was a home UV option...

I completely understand the mushroom people, however I am no longer one of you. My husband got a mushroom kit for his birthday. I tried a fresh cremini - the difference in taste and texture is unbelievable. If you can find freshly grown shrooms give the a try - you may be surprised.

I am still unable to tolerate tuna fish. I shuddered writing it those words.

I'm curious about where people w/o fridges live. We're in Miami and room temperature here, with our A/C running, is 76 degrees. Does anyone have experience with this sort of lifestyle in a hot, humid climate? Thanks for your input!

I just had a drink at a sushi place that was Typhoon sake, Lillet Blanc, shiso, and white grapes. Amazing. Light and refreshing.

Just wondering, since this is totally something I would do - is she letting it cool completely?

I have a hard time waiting for just baked bread, so that could be why it tears.

Whipped egg whites definitely do the trick, but it adds a step.

I've been making mine with buttermilk, and I really like the results better than with regular milk. You'd have to adjust the amount of baking powder down and add baking soda as well, though.

The recipe I make calls for 1 cup of flour, 1 tsp baking power and 1/2 tsp baking soda to 1 cup of buttermilk.

The picture looks a lot like cilantro, and the description is similar. Would that be an acceptable substitute?

I've made these cupcakes several times - thank you Garrett! - and they're always a hit. I have never been able to find cake flour, though, so I just remove about two tablespoons of all-purpose flour, and they bake up beautifully.
