My girlfriend has a set of four Gio Ponti chairs that her dad bought second hand after coming home from the Vietnam war. They are still in beautiful condition and when I look at them, I think, "Man, those are gorgeous!"
When I told her they were Gio Ponti chairs, she said, "Joe who?" Thanks for featuring this great designer. More people should know his work. Love that pic!

I think it thoughtful, really, to know that friends are registered somewhere (a few places is even better). In today's busy, busy, world, it's nice to know that I can 1. get them something they will actually use and enjoy and 2. not have to spend an inordinate amount of time, energy and guesswork figuring out what they want, already have, and could really use. Target is one of my favorite places to have people register! Now, I just wish Etsy would add a register to their website!

Nice looking kitchen. I love the farm sink! Have you considered going with a metallic silver? Ralph Lauren makes some nice metallic silvers: http://www.ralphlaurenhome.com/products/paint/Finishes/Items.aspx?haid=116
That way, you satisfy your gray side but without making your kitchen look too gloomy. I painted two walls in my living room metallic silver and I love the way it reflects light! Not gloomy at all and I LOVE gray!

A puppet theater would be awesome! Of course, you'd have to build a stage, put up a curtain and learn puppeteering, but...sounds fun, no?

Seriously, though, I would make this a reading nook with a built-in bench underneath (filled with nice pillows) some nice small artwork on the walls (try tushtush on Etsy for some beautiful little paintings, like this one: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=40627606) and bookshelves overhead to complete the experience! Who needs a TV anyway?
