I want to wall off a section of the living room to make it into a bedroom. I am considering having livingspace's compression walls installed.

I am also considering making a wall much less expensively out of Ikea bookcases, bolted to each other and to the wall, and trimmed out to reach the ceiling. I'd make the door out of a bookcase with doors, but with the back and bottom plinth omitted. And you can use the bookcases!

Does anyone know if the compression walls are significantly BETTER in any way than bookcase-wall? In particular, are the livingspace compression walls more soundproof than a bookcase-wall?
