Hallooo Ursula! I got up bright and early to make my final trip to Ikea to return some things I didn't wind up using in the Cure. Now that my apartmentis so pared down, I found that I really don't want anything else hanging around unless I'm using it! My outbox is FINALLY empty - I had a wardrobe that was waiting to be picked up and now with that gone I am SO enjoying my apartment! I am going to take pics to post b/c I still can't believe it.

As for the rest of the day, will finish shopping for the big breakfast with the family here tomorrow and cleaning... that's it. Though, I have to admit, laying on my couch with my cat is a lot more appealing than cleaning, moving, painting, staining, fixing or building one more thing - the Cure has tuckered me out!

I'm almost done with my cure and helped a friend tonight do some work on her bedroom. When I left she got all teary and said she just needed some help and couldn't believe how much we accomplished in one night - we put up a shelf, fixed a dresser, cleaned out all the boxes under her bed and put everything into boxes so she could find them in her closet. Amazing how your space can affect you!

I'm so excited we're in the home stretch!

- rearranged my bedroom this weekend and removed my tv from my 'love corner' (read about it on a feng shui website and decided it wouldn't hurt to clear it out). Decluttered the overall room and it is so much bigger.
- finally put up shelves above my desk to house my cd's and dvds - then put them in containers bought at the container store
- hung photos I took on my travels in the kitchen and dressing room

I'm now struck by how much more peaceful my home is. I am having my whole family over for breakfast on Sunday so before that I still have to:
- clean out my big closets - they're the last ones and it seems like this task will be the hardest (though I feel like I've said that as I've approached every room!)
- take 'out' the 'spare' furniture now - I've actually taken out a lot of furniture pieces and have a few to go - taken out a standing CD rack, ottoman, book shelf, and need to take out the rolling set of drawers, lamp, and cedar closet.
- clean the windows and the balcony
- work on lighting - add a tall/skinny light in the bedroom, a high light above my desk, maybe spotlights on art in the living room
- touch up paint in the bathroom

Elizabeth, I have spent money on this cure but the biggest changes have been re-arranging furniture, actually cleaning EVERYWHERE, getting rid of too much stuff and the 'small' fixes like shelves ($24 from Ikea, etc.).

I don't have a digital camera but will develop pics at the end of the week and post then!

It's called Tile Grout Coating by a company called Tile Guard from my local hardware store. It comes in a little applicator bottle like one you'd get for shoe polish. It was a bit smelly, but not terribly toxic smelling. Best of all, I have large tiles in my bathroom and not a lot of grout, so it didn't take long at all - all I had to do was run the applicator along the grout lines and wipe off the excess with a rag.

I feel like I need a break, too - SO TIRED! But it's been great. Last week I did pickle the wood on my built in desk, stained some shelves from IKEA and will install those this week. I've cleaned the bathroom and, b/c my grout never looked clean, found this cool stuff to 'stain' the grout in my bathroom. Now the grout is white and it looks like it's a whole new floor- it's terrific and was so easy to do! This weekend was crazy with family commitments and I took the day off tomorrow to actually paint my bathroom. I've never painted a room before by myself, and I'm a bit nervous... but thinking I can always paint over it.

I toast all of you! I tackled my files tonight and have to organize tomorrow. My big project this weekend is either staining or pickling the wood on my built-in desk. I'm not handy at all and nervous about it but figure if I screw it up, it's my own place so I can deal with it!
