I also have had the #7 Skil, but it stopped being able to charge after 4 months. They sent me a replacement and that one died about 14 months later. I ended up upgrading to a Craftsman (not the one shown here) and it's worked perfectly for almost 2 years.

Also, remember that Bob's Red Mill is just a hop away in Milwaukie! All the flours, grains, and granolas you can imagine.

Fresh fish - Flying Fish Company on 23rd and Hawthorne. So many good, fresh fish and it's right next to the produce market.

Wine - Cork on 29th and Alberta. I don't know much about wine, so having a shop with people who know what goes best with what is awesome.

I definitely second Chop on North Williams, so many great tasty treats. Also, Laurelhurst Market has some great cuts and charcuterie you can buy.

I still have half a jar left and will be trying as many of these suggestions as I can before I run out. This has been the fanciest experiment with food I've ever done.

I live in Portland and our rental home has the washer and dryer in the kitchen. The washer is a top load, so it couldn't be hidden in such a cute way, so I built a retractable top and added a curtain to hide it. It gives us desperately needed counter space and hides the things. But the six months of trying to figure out how to hide them drove me nuts.

On an old episode of Cooks Country, they made a pound cake and were very instant on NOT preheating the oven. The gradual rise in temperature does something awesome to the cake. I don't remember what it was, but Christopher has yet to lead me astray.

I really like New Belgiums Two Below. I get so excited when it rolls out in late fall. I have not tasted this kind, though. I live in Portland, OR so I have no shortage of amazing summer beers to indulge in.

Portions and eating fresh keeps my weight in check. I've started to make everything I can from scratch (I lost my job not too long ago, all I have is time). Whereas I used to throw back half a loaf of french bread in one sitting, now that I have to knead it until I'm sore, I want it to last!

Honestly, this time of year, I gain weight due to drinking. All those cold beers at BBQs just do it to me. This summer I am going to try to limit those yummy, tasty beers and really test my will power!

That is the greatest thing ever. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do throw back A LOT of tea every day. It would be awesome not to have keep boiling water all the time.

That is a stunning piece. My chef boyfriend would go bonkers if I gave him that. And anytime he wasn't up for making dinner, I'd be able to say, "But I got you the meiji knife!" and he would get to work.
