I once saw a lucite chest like this, also used as a coffee table, that contained a set of gorgeous china. The chest was provided with the china by the manufacturer so the collection inside was orderly. It was a novel storage system and was very chic. I've been on the lookout for something similar ever since. Lucite Trunk by Serge de Troyer | Apartment Therapy Boston |

Beautiful! I want color but I don't want it to scream at me when I walk into a room. This is a great example of the color layering that I'd like to achieve in my home. I don't have the same fabulous architectual details as this home, but I'll certainly be looking over the photos in more detail for inspiration. Use a steamer. It will loosen the adhesive and you'll be able to peel the color film from the glass. If you pull slowly, the adhesive will come up with the film and minimize the amount of scraping you'll have to do. I recently removed solar tinting from two windows and a sliding glass door in a few hours with minimal mess and scraping. I tried the ammonia & garbage bag method first with no results whatsoever. I called a window tinting company and they said they use a steamer. The following link provides instruction for removing tint from car windows but it's the same process I used (minus the six pack): Apartment Therapy New York | Stripping Glass of Colored Film? That's exactly what was happening, Wende. The aqua/green colors were highligthing the console and pushing it more into the room. I'll have to find somewhere else to use the color as I'm really taken with it. After playing around with online color tools, I see that the violet-grays may indeed put the console in it's place. I'm off to the paint store. Thanks for your suggestion. Apartment Therapy - The Fall Cure: Week Three - Weekend |

I need some help. My goal for the fall cure was to bring some color into my living room. While assessing the project, I also determined that I need to better integrate the dark wood furnture into the western light-filled room. I'm not having much luck. oh jessicat, I remember the challenges and joys of trying to get things done with little kids. My kids would be my 27 year old son and his girlfriend. Not quite what you were referring to but they'll likely help move furniture, hang curtains and paint. Apartment Therapy - The Fall Cure: Week Two - Weekend |

Of all the remaining finishing touches, I'm most nervous about buying a rug. I purchased a Pottery Barn run off ebay that didn't work out well in my living room; the style wasn't quite right. It was a very nice rug and I got a good deal but it wasn't cheap. I ended up giving it to the kids so it wasn't a wasted purchase. However, I'm nervous about buying the next rug. I'm considering a dark brown rug to ground the room, as the rest of the room will be mostly light. My inspiration was Ron Marvin's room, as seen in the Smallest Coolest contest and in the October Metropolitan Home: Apartment Therapy - The Fall Cure: Week Two - Weekend |

hmmm, I uploaded photos yesterday but I'm not seeing them in the flickr group. I'll have to go back and make sure I tagged everything correctly. I'm doing a one room cure in my living room. I've been stuck for some time on how to pull it together and finish the room. I'm hoping that participating in the cure will help me make some forward progress.
