If you have textured ceilings, cleaning them every three months will dramatically cut down on the dust in your home. In each place I've lived that I've had them, I found this to be true. For me the best way was to use the bare floor attachment and vacuum them, but you could also sweep them with a regular broom. Do the ceilings before doing the rest of the cleaning or you'll have to redo everthing. It's amazing how much dust they will accumulate and hold.

So how would this differ from putting a couple of large candles together? Candles would be a LOT cheaper and probably provide about as much warmth.

I like it a lot, but am glad that I don't have to clean it. I love the fact that it's an amalgam of many loved items and not some staged showroom look. My own apartment is similar in it's style and feel, but on a much smaller scale that I can manage easily. Tres boheme!~

It looks refreshing and I plan to try it. Last summer I went to a wedding and one of the cocktails served was a cucumber martini. I had never tried one and was skeptical, but liked it. I couldn't get the recipe, but my date and I spent an afternoon experimenting and came up with our version that tasted exactly like the drink we had at the wedding. Here is our recipe, in case anyone is interested in trying it:

CUCUMBER MARTINI
(1 serving; measurements are approximate……….by the time we got the flavor right, we had a good buzz on and were no longer using exact measurements!!! )
2 shots gin
1 shot fresh-squeezed cucumber juice
1 shot Midori
½ shot sweetened lime juice
Cucumber slice for garnish

Instead of an old toothbrush, I bought a cheap denture brush at the dollar store and as it has one side that looks like a regular toothbrush and the other that has a small, pointy brush, it gets at the faucet grime even better, and also gets into tiny crevices and grout lines nicely.

When my nice kitchen and hand towels become stained or too tattered to look decent on the rack, I use them for scrub cloths. I cut them in half and a half of one works great with my Swiffer Wet Jet mop, saving me from having to purchase the cleaning pads.

Good old fashioned cloth diapers are really good for damp dusting and waxing furniture, and also good for cleaning windows without lint.

I used to have a nice long outdoor line, too, and also used poles to prop up the center. I now live in a tiny apartment with nowhere to put an outdoor line, not even a balcony, so I use two heavy duty wooden laundry racks. Gets the job done, but is not pretty to look at. Luckily, if I do the laundry in the early evening, everything is dry by morning, so I don't have to gaze upon it for too long...........

Once the clog is gone, I add cleaning solution (generally bleach, borax or white vinegar) and swish it around, then leave it to set for about ten minutes. Then gently shake the water off it and store it in a small plastic container (like a Cool Whip container, but slightly larger) under the bathroom sink, safely hidden til needed again. I have a separate one under my kitchen sink.

I bought the Nature's Source bathroom cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, and glass cleaner and like them. I have also used the entire Greenworks line and like them, as well. I have tried many different green products in the past and I am glad to see more reasonable priced alternatives, as I feel that some of the green products pricing is expensive.

I love crepes, and make them every once in awhile. My usual filling is to take some sugar-free orange marmalade and orange juice, mix together til well-blended, and nuke til hot, then pour over the crepes. Yum! Comfort food!!

Although laptops are portable and take up no space, I still prefer working on a desktop. I absolutely HATE the little tiddly winks keyboards on laptops. I guess that you can get used to it, but I much prefer a regular keyboard and a larger screen.

I never did like Bob Vila, as he seemed so condescending. He got credit, while Norm did all the work. I actually live in Norm's hometown and met him several times before he was ever on television. He is a great guy, and stayed a great guy even after becoming well known.
