Apple's maps are still incredibly lacking in detailed information in other countries. Say, for example, public transit information for the extensive train network in Japan is entirely absent. Also, things such as exit numbers for subway and train stations are also missing. I held out on upgrading to iOS 6 and used the old Google Maps application until Apple approved the newest Google Maps app just for that type of information. I could continue to talk about the list of gripes, but having alternatives during the transitionary period before Google Maps' return was difficult. Alternatives are always welcome.
