I love the Wellness mat from Williams Sonoma. It's pricey - I was lucky enough to receive it as a gift and probably wouldn't have spent the money otherwise. We tried a Gel pro in the past and didn't feel like it had as much cushion as the W&S version (sometimes they have them out in the stores at the register if you want to try it out). If you can afford it, I definitely think it helps the joints and back during long prep sessions. Recommendations for Kitchen Floor Mats That Help Lower Back Pain? Good Questions |

My mother in law made pretzel rods dipped in dark chocolate for my shower - and she put sprinkles on the chocolate. She put two or three in cute bags with ribbon as a nice treat for people on the way home in the car/airport. They were delicious! It doesn't really need repeating, but Pioneer Woman's salsa is awesome. Sometimes I eat just the salsa for dinner. It's definitely more restaurant-style. LOVE IT. How Can I Make Restaurant-Style Salsa? Good Questions |

My parents sent me to elementary school with a Lunchable every day. It turned me into a vegetarian by the time I got to 4th grade. Nasty stuff in those packages. Lunchbox Memories: What Did Your Parents Pack for You? |

Fruit smoothie with protein powder dumped in, 2 hours after waking up. It's the only thing that doesn't make me feel sick, and it keeps me full through a lunch time workout. First Thing or Not At All: When Do You Eat Breakfast? |

I did a detox diet ("Clean" was the name of the book -- it's mostly just an elimination diet), originally as a New Year's resolution for 3 weeks in January...but then I kept going because I felt so great. I stick to it M-F and eat more freely on the weekend. I was already vegetarian and didn't eat a lot of processed junk to begin with, but had been feeling run down and achy so I gave it a try after all the normal things didn't help (more exercise, blood tests, sleep tests, etc.). It did change the type of produce that I eat (less starchy things like bananas that make me puffy). I also figured out that gluten and tofu or any processed soy is a problem for me, so I was able to eliminate my frequent headaches by cutting those out of my diet. I'm following the Clean diet (Dr. Junger) - it's a 3 week detox diet. You do get to eat food, and you just eliminate foods that are known to cause allergies and sensitivity in a lot of people, as well as some foods that block liver function. I highly recommend it - I am not a person that deals with hunger or deprivation very well, but this has vastly improved some nagging problems I had such as headaches and muscle aches while keeping my appetite satisfied. Don't knock it until you try it... Recommendations for a New Year's Cleanse Diet? Good Questions |
