I live in the SW burbs a block away from Chicago city proper, and I disagree with other comments about Chicago grocery shopping. Trader Joe's won't come near my neighborhood because we're not the right demographic, all the Dominick's have closed around here and Jewel has cornered the market. There are some ethnic grocery stores, but the produce isn't that great and I don't trust the meat departments. I completely understand the frustration of living in the "wrong" neighborhood and not having access to fresh food. So I have lots of cops and firefighters living close by but grocery stores won't open because it's not the right "demographic." I do have a local certified grocer that I go to often, but the store is small and the selection is lacking. I hope I don't have to move to get access to better groceries!

I just have visions of Grandma walking along and all of a sudden, BAM!, face down in the conversation pit. I'm guessing this happened a lot in the 70s. How may people broke an ankle from falling in these things?

Remember when as a child you took treats to your classroom on your birthday? Now as an adult working for a school district we still follow the same rules. I have to bring birthday treats for all 20 people working in my office on my birthday. I have fun with it and try out new decadent recipes that my co-workers get to try. I'm going to keep this recipe in mind when my birthday rolls around! Cocoa...sour cream...pistachios...what's not to like?

Lovely place. Lots of beautiful natural wood and artwork! But why does your Chicago map only show north of the Stevenson? Never any respect for those living on the South Side. I live in a beautiful vintage house that I can afford, but it is on the south side. Oh well, guess I'll never be hip. You do have a nice place, though.
