I would just drink it. But then again I'm big into sauce.

I didn't figure out until college that filet mignon is steak and not fish.

The best, though, was when my now-husband/then-boyfriend was first invited to my family's Thanksgiving. My mom made him responsible for bringing deviled eggs. Now, my whole life, whenever we made deviled eggs, we always cut them on the short side. My mom did it, my grandma did it, and I did it. It's how we did it. It was always an exciting crap shoot: some deviled eggs would be super deep, some deviled eggs would have the shallowest of dips. But that's what we always did, and we liked it like that.

My husband shows up to dinner, and his eggs are cut lengthwise. My mom THROWS A FIT. "How was I to know what was how you were supposed to cut them? You trying to make me look stupid!?!?!" To be honest, until I saw his eggs, it'd never occurred to me to cut them lengthwise, either. But now, a decade later, my husband is still in charge of the deviled eggs, and my mom still gives him grief about how he cuts them.

I'm with paula.jean on hearing about the floor. That crack running down the middle of the floor scares me. We have one just like it in our basement, and during heavy rains water seeps up through it. Which is probably a huge issue easily resolved by moving.

#5 is the color of our master bedroom. It's a really great color, surprisingly very relaxing, and it goes with everything. I would love the colors of picture #2 in my kitchen.

To piggyback onto what Toniadee said, my husband years ago bought a set of knives from the teevee. It was one of those specials where you get two sets for the price of one (just pay shipping and processing). If I recall correctly, the single set of knives was $40, and then shipping was $20 or $30 FOR EACH SET. I was blown away to find out he'd spent a hundred dollars on plastic-handled TV knives. Granted, we're still occasionally using them, but that shipping and processing can be a killer.

Years ago, my father rented a outdoor storage unit for stuff that didn't fit in our family-of-four-in-a-two-bedroom apartment. We had closet space for the clothes on our backs, and everything else went into storage: photo albums, cherished baby clothes, furniture my brother and I would eventually inherit, you name it. He paid $35 a month for YEARS. When I got my own place after college, we went in to clean it out so I could outfit my new pad. Mice had eaten through everything, there were nests in the loveseat, there were feces in everything. My mom was devastated. My dad paid all that money only to throw everything out.

Thank you for the resource for corbels. My husband and I just finished building this in our bedroom and have been trying to find the right size corbels. Those at Lowes and Home Depot are too small. I can't wait to look over what they have, and they seem inexpensive.

"Milk and eggs are on a shelf on the door. This is the warmest part of the refrigerator and shouldn't house highly-perishable items."

I've always wondered, if eggs are not meant to be kept in the door, then why do refrigerators come with egg holders in the door?

My husband and I have an '47 Cape Cod. We just installed Ikea cabinets with the Stat doors in half of our kitchen (never had cabinets where the stove and fridge are; the other side requires major demo and will happen another day). It took me about two hours to put together four cabinets. We needed a third pair of hands to help hang them (they're heavy suckers!), but they actually ended up being really easy to install. Granted, we still need to put in the countertop on the bottom cabinet, so that may end up being an issue best left to an expert, but everything else was easy as pie. They look great, and for what I paid for them, I couldn't be happier. The only problem we've had is we bought a microwave at Ikea for over the stove, and it requires a dedicated circuit and bit more installation.

I've used a Bounty-lined funnel as a filter before, when really desperate. It's a two-person job, though.
