i can't tell from reading this review if the author is neglecting to mention, or just doesn't know that this is a knock off store . Organic Modernism is a spin off of white on white- this version of the store just knocks off iconic finn juhl, nakashima, serge mouille and bassam fellows pieces (extra reprehensible as the latter are living designers trying to build a design brand).

i think it's probably a foam faux vase. I suspect that foax foam is not what you're going for.

Paint it. The wood work is nice, it ain't Versailles.
I always love when people mention how hard it is to find a house where the wood work hasn't been painted- that's because in a lot of those cases, the wood work looks better that way.
Live in your home the way you want to live in. Paint the wood work.

There is a third reason why the price quoted by an auction house or consignment shop is lower: They have to make something on selling the item. You and I, through craigslist or ebay, will never get top vintage market price on a piece. In order to do so, you usually have to sell through a dealer and they will take anywhere between 15 and 50% out of the overall proceeds.

Also- Especially in upholstered furniture, trends and tastes in upholstry can greatly effect the price.

that lamp with the horizontal stripes is just gorgeous. don't paint it. You could change out the lamp shade? That one would look gorgeous with a chocolate brown shade. Or sell em on ebay and buy what you want.

This is the kind of statement that makes people hate design websites: "If you ever come across an old suzani with a low pricetag due to spotted wear….."

like last time I was on vacation, backpacking through Uzbekistan?

two things-

1-I love to make a fritatta with lots of onions, sliced dried apricots and a bit of blue cheese.

2-once on vacation in the south of Turkey we were greated every morning with big bowls of museli, Turkish Yogurt and dried apricots that had been simmered in honey. best breakfast ever.

they cook in a similar kind of clay pot in Southern Italy. I love them. Things just sort of beautifully fall apart when roasted in a clay pot and they are great for pot lucks or entertaining because they retain heat for a while once out of the oven.
