Go to Walmart/Target and buy the cheapest garment rack they sell, it is around $10. It is just some poles that snap into place. When your mom leaves, disassemble and story under your bed, behind the sofa, in the corner of a closet, etc.

I've done Memphis to LA and then LA to CT, both times I've done a modified border skimmer route, because I have family in Memphis and it makes a great pit stop. Coming through the AZ/NM desert can be a little difficult with narrow, winding roads. I modified this route by going through OK City to Amarillo, TX to Albuquerque (I did Santa Fe on the return trip which I liked much better), which eliminates the torture of driving through all of Texas. No matter which route you take, take your time and enjoy the sites, I would drive about 500 miles a day (about 8 hours) which would allow time for sightseeing each morning before hitting the road and plenty of stops along the way. Stopping for a day or two to visit family or friends also makes for an easier trip. Don't rush it there is so much to be seen.

My parents put me on the plane for the first time at age 5 and like others have said, the child is never actually alone. The parents put the child on the plane and the flight attendants pay attention to the child while they are on the flight and it my case, my grandparents met me at the gate. It really is no big deal at all.

Get yourself a wooden spoon and a stern look that let's your kid know that he better not even think about playing on the stairs. Either that or have a tree in the front yard that easy to pull a switch from. That's what worked for my parents.

I was 21 and just moved into my first apartment without roommates. I bought a black leather sofa from Ikea. This was back in the day when you could only get $300 a day from the ATM and no one had a check card. I had to go to the ATM four days in a row to get enough money. Then I literally almost passed out after paying for it. I started sweating and getting light-headed as the cashier rung me up. She was the sweetest, older lady who gave me encouraging words about growing up and becoming independent. Almost 15 years later, I still have and love that sofa mostly because of what it symbolizes.

Religious Christmas Decor?

I have to agree with your boyfriend on this one. Christmas is a Christian religious holiday. If you aren't religious, why are you celebrating it in the first place? If you aren't religious or don't identify as Christian, then you shouldn't be celebrating the holy-day at all.

For the melamine plates, I would suggest using the command adhesive strips for hanging pictures. They will hold the way and no damage to the walls.

When I first spotted this at the local Target I literally ran to from a few aisles over. Up close, I was so disappointed. It looks super cheap and all the ones at the local stores were dented. It wasn't even worth it once these went on clearance.

It's cute and less then 30 bucks. I say go for it - you can always return it if you don't like it in person. Yes, walmart isn't the best store, but for those in smaller cities or on a budget sometimes it really is the only option.

Have you tried the Mr.Clean Magic Erasers. I had smudges when I was moving out of my last apartment and these took care of them with no problem. Also, if you've been in your apartment for a while - say 5 years or more - you might just ask your landlord to repaint.
