Hey all, just wanted to jump in to say that I wrote the piece and was also shocked by the rude comments; they have been removed. I also wanted to say, and this is kind of awkward, that I didn't actually make the above comment attributed to me "Juliabren". It was a friend of mine who was babysitting my kiddos. They were on my computer, saw the post, and wanted to jump in with their perspective. Unfortunately, they were logged in as me. Awkward, indeed. I appreciate their intent, but wanted to clarify that I, as the author of this piece, am all for a colorful discussion regarding art. I spent quite a few years working at art museums and fully appreciate healthy debate surrounding works of art. I just wanted to clarify, as my intent was to share something with all of you, and never to spark a thread of negative feelings. On with the debate ;) Parking Canopy Made of Recycled Plastic Bottles Colossal |

Some of these posts remind me an encounter I once had with a grocery clerk when I was buying a flat of flowers for our garden. She said, "Oh, I HATE flowers! I can't even touch them. They're so icky. They just sit there and DIE!" Parking Canopy Made of Recycled Plastic Bottles Colossal |

@Amberm: Geraniums, fern varietals, hostas and bleeding hearts are good in shade, and I've found that mint and parsley do well on my own shady balcony. Also, there are some great garden centers in the Chicago area (Gethsemane and Meinke Garden Center come to mind) with super knowledgeable staff! Hey all, I just feel the need to reply to a couple of points made in the comments. First, these are succulents, which require very little water as they are desert-native plants, so I don't think there will by any issue regarding "constant watering". Second, the locale is warm and sunny LA, and third, wood is often used in outdoor furniture (picnic tables, benches, trellises, deck chairs). :) Before & After: Old Dresser Becomes a Garden of Succulents Grizzly Bear Modern |

@jenniferbnyc: That's a great question! As far as I can see, most suggestions are to donate them to places like the Salvation Army, Goodwill, local theaters (who can use them for set dressing), local schools (who can use them for art or special projects). I also found that some libraries accept donations of old reference books to sell (I'm not sure to who?) to raise money...hope that helps! Carved Book Landscapes by Guy Laramee Colossal |

I bought my beeswax from Beeswax (sold through Amazon). It was only $1.99 for five, 1 oz. bars of organic beeswax, and even with the added shipping it was still a great deal. 10 Household Uses for Beeswax |

It doesn't have to be cold but it does need to be fully carbonated, as the bubbles are what help release the stain. :) Club Soda + Salt = Non-Toxic Stain Remover |
