It's become more digital over the years. Making sure I download all the magazines/books/audiobooks/apps/documents/whatever to the applicable devices far enough in advance so I don't forget them. And usually doing this inspires a digital version of a packing list for the unusual items I'm likely to forget.

I don't think being unmarried would be an issue by itself, but they could worry about if this guy moves in and then trashes the place, or you break up & then you break the lease, etc, if there's someone living there that is not legally bound by the lease, that's a problem. It's the same thing if you get a pet that the landlord was not made aware of. It's better to know their terms upfront than to have a vindictive landlord on your hands...

I use Springpad (kind of like Evernote), to store my recipes. I add them to a Board view, so I can create a visual display of what I'm making when, and with the way they have recipes set up, you can easily add ingredients to a shopping list. I'll do this on Sunday morning, and plan out anything else I want to make for the week (lunch stuff if there won't be leftovers, snacks, any canning I want to do, etc), and add those items to the list. Then I hit the farmer's market, the butcher, and then the grocery store.

As far as what meals get planned when, I try to be strategic about it. Having meals with no leftovers (like homemade pizza) are better for Fridays, because leftovers are easily forgotten over the weekend. Meals relying on fresh foods (seafood, other things without a long shelf life) are best done earlier in the week so I don't have to go to the store again. Slowcooker meals are best on Wednesday, when I usually don't have a lot of time to cook. Sundays and Mondays I have time to prep a few things for later in the week, to make it easy on myself.

Not in bed, not ever. He can come up on one of the couches, when it has a blanket draped over it. He's too big to get on things like desk or dining chairs.

He's no small dog, he loves his outside time, and he sheds like crazy. It's not cruel to him to limit where he's allowed. He knows who the alpha is in our household!

In the UK, "plain" fudge (also called "tablet") isn't actually chocolate flavored, it's just sugar, condensed milk, milk, and butter. Sometimes with vanilla. Might be the same thing, or close enough: http://britishfood.about.com/od/scottishregionalrecipes/r/tablet.htm

All the time. I'll save the really experimental stuff (i.e., if I have to buy special, complicated equipment, or the recipe isn't entirely in a language I speak, or the source is unlikely) for when it's just me & the hubby, or maybe for a few close friends. But usually I make so much food that if one of the dishes turns out to be a failure, there's still loads to eat!

If your farmer's market allows dogs (some do, some don't, sometimes it's a matter of law and sometime it's just the rules of the farmer's market), just be considerate when you bring them. If they're overly excitable by large groups of people, or don't handle seeing other dogs well? Leave 'em at home. And even if your dog is an angel, try to walk 'em enough that they take care of their business before they get to the farmer's market. It's not the dog's fault it has to pee, but that doesn't mean people want to see it taking care of business on/in a stall they're buying food from. Keep an eye on them so they stay away from nose-height goodies.

Another high-tech resource is BrightNest. It's less for helping eith the initial work & moving, but more for maintaining your house, and it's probably easiest to set up when you move in. They're a free website that lets you keep track of everything, from contact info for contractors ad household services, to paint colors, to all the appliance model numbers. They'll store appliance manuals for you, and the best part is that they will create to-do list items for household maintenance tasks. A little intense to input everything in to start with, but it seems well worth it, especially if you've never owned a house before!

After owning a tall male dog, there are some definite disadvantages to having a food garden near public spaces. But if you put it back a little bit, so only adventurous dogs could get to it and mark it as there own, I don't see a problem with it.

If you want to go all-out, Geek Chic makes really lovely furniture built specifically for gaming needs. They have on item in particular that has an interesting look to it, and would be awesome at accommodating board game boxes of a variety of sizes & shapes (plus storage for extra pencils, dice, paper, whatever you need:

I just hate the stores that have the check-yourself-out option, but only 1 other lane open with a real person checker. The machines to check yourself out are super slow, designed to exacerbate even the tiniest user error, and just, in general, suck. I've just stopped going to grocery stores where the only options are 1) take forever to check myself out or 2) wait in line for the one checker they have working.

I have a Dodocase, but it seems to work well until you drop it when the case is open. The corners are a weak point: if you drop your ipad, the wood on the corner will crack, and render the case non-functional unless you have a very good glue on hand. I grant that I don't have this exact model of case, but the corners appear to be the same as on the model I have. Basically, it's a wonderful, beautiful protective case...until it is called upon to do the protecting.

Unless the "table" is a precariously balanced board, I don't see why not. The only time I avoid it is when we're at a restaurant with a group and the table is so covered with dishes there's no elbow room.

Location. We're in the process of buying our first house now, and the Chosen One is going to add another 5-10 minutes to an already long commute. It has a few extras we don't really need (a hot tub, more space than we'd want), but it has things that we wanted as must-haves but never really expected to get, so it's worth the sacrifice. Because of the rates & whatnot, we wanted to try to skip buying the first house and move right to the second house, if that makes sense, so it's a lot bigger than our current needs, but will be just right when we start filling it with little'uns!

I use mine all the time at home. Almost the the exclusion of my personal laptop. I mostly use my laptop for downloading things that I can't download straight to my device (like books on audible, or library books), and to play games on Steam. I don't think everyone needs one in addition to a tricked-out laptop or desktop, but for most people's personal use a full-blown computer is kind of unnecessary: you don't need that much stuff to check your email, surf the web, and maybe play some solitaire or other basic games. Tablets (or netbooks for that matter) are a cheaper alternative in many cases.
