Just beautiful -- it's great how you've made a nice but ordinary space into a reflection of yourself.

I got my cat after I got my couch slipcovered in orange, so choosing a short-hair orange tabby was a no brainer. It doesn't hurt that the little sweetie likes to sleep on the floor under the chair or in his carrier.

My ginger tabby Riley has taken to hanging out in his cat carrier - pretty funny since he loathes it most of the time. He'll lay on his side and stretch out one paw as if to catch any tiny breeze that might come by. The ridiculous thing is that I run the air conditioner in my bedroom and leave the door cracked so that he can get some genuine relief.

I love your mom's room - my bedroom is a similar blue-to-gray and it's the most peaceful place in my condo. The color in my room is a Benjamin Moore match of the ridiculously expensive but beautiful Farrow & Ball 'Borrowed Light' and I adore it.

not local, but a similar concept can be found in Meredith New Hampshire at Burlwood on route 3...

I love these - because I was afraid they'd adhere too well I used clip rings on a pressure rod to hang them and was very pleased with both the look and the price.

What about going to a craft store and buying inexpensive shadowbox-style frames? If you got something that was two or three inches deep you should be able to put enough soil in it to grow wheatgrass. Good luck!

Farrow and Ball's "Borrowed Light" was recommended to me for my bedroom by a decorator, and I love it, however the price tag (approximately $85/gallon) was ridiculous IMHO. My painter kindly took the chip to Benjamin Moore and they matched it - I know, I know, not the same fabulous finish, but honestly the colour is spectacular. It was a case of cheap and close being sufficient, and the room is now a wonderfully restful retreat that I could afford to supply with matching bedding.

My place is a 715 sq. ft. one bedroom with a sun room - my previous place was about 1100 sq. ft. but I only used about 600 sq. ft. of it. I like small best.

another way to create a posse of experts is to subscribe to Angie's List, sort of a localized Consumer Reports for home service companies.

Also, I have a gossip bench that my grandad made years ago - it's been a staple of mine since I liberated it from my parents' home years ago. Perfect for a landing strip!

I really like this one from SmartBargains, but it's rather small.

I see my beautiful soft blue ("Borrowed Light") wall with two sketches of reclining female figures - I love the way the browns of the sketches work with the grey-blue background to create both visual interest and a relaxing atmosphere.

I ordered the Gerbera Daisy bouquet and it arrived on Friday - gorgeous, and very reasonably priced.

I own the Adesso Bellows Tree floor lamp and like it a lot - I agree that it's not an investment piece but it has worked well for me for the past 5 years or so.

fabulous! I'm thinking you could make a simplified version by adding mini-magnets to the edge of a sheer or light-weight curtain and folding it up like a roman blind.

I stayed in a similar type of hotel in Stockholm - I found it very comfortable (I'm 5'8") but my travel companions (5'0" and 6'7") were less than thrilled.

I own the Horizons Slat Queen bed, a Gibson sofa and a Madison armchair, all of which I love. They're all solid, well-constructed pieces of furniture and I expect to continue loving them for a long time - in fact, at the time I purchased them 5 or 6 years ago, Ethan Allen was the only place where I was able to find an attractive sofa that would fit into a smaller scale room.

Thanks streepyj - not a bad idea, but the switched outlet is on the right side of the bed and I fear that both cords won't reach it. I'll give it a whirl and see if it works, though.
