I used to live in the apartment above this one, and recognized the layout, view and mantel instantly. Love what you did with the place. The molding had been removed in my place, though the harlequin pattern on the lower windows had been retained. I hope they're still there. Lucky you for living in such a nice space, and good luck! A beautiful and very personal space. I love that it is clearly inspired by various Parisian design trends (as well as some others) without feeling like a museum or a design school history project. Vive L'eclecticisme! Nicole & Aaron's Paris-Inspired Loft House Tour |

Have lived in apartments all of my 50+ years, and this is especially a problem on the West Coast, where buildings tend to have no insulation. Civil communications and mindful consideration will go a long way towards keeping the peace, as will area rugs, carpeting and slippers. To those I would add using your "inside voice," since you are inside after all, and it helps to protect your own privacy. ( I know so much about my upstairs neighbor's personal life because he talks soooooo loud on the telephone.) Finally, whether you go barefoot or not, make sure to walk softly, and teach your kids to do so too. It will be much better for your neighbor, and in the long run, better for your feet too. To vertical blinds, overhead lighting, wall-to-wall carpeting, popcorn ceilings and flat-screen TV's mounted above fireplaces, I would like to add those cheap plastic insert thingys that are meant to give single-pane windows a multi-paned effect. A nice space, and the collector's piece and custom piece make those catalog standbys we all have to settle for sometimes (even designers with their own TV shows) look less out-of-the-box to me. Such a relief to see that it's not overly designed and, God bless her, not merely staged. All the plants and flower arrangements soften the space nicely, and this apartment illustrates that good organization is also good design. But that kitchen still has a real estate developer's starkness to it, and empty painted frames are an overdone bit of DIY. But that's just nitpicking. And something tells me that the real star of this space, is the light and the view. Lucky girl. Sabrina Soto's Penthouse Pops with Color House Tour |
