Do you put the entire lemon wedges in the food processor? I've never heard of that, but that's how the recipe makes it sound ...

My husband did a pie-a-month blog ... not quite as specific as your project, but he made some great pies, including a chai pie that was a big hit. You can find the recipe here: pie-curious.blogspot.com

My problem: cats. They're always asleep on the bed when I get up, and their snuggliness amplifies my laziness. Making the bed is bad enough, but rousting peaceful cats to do it? I guess I'll just go get dressed. But I do prefer the bed made. Any tips?

There's nothing moronic about moving stuff on the subway, as long as it's not crowded. I live in NYC and have moved a Christmas tree, two large dining chairs, and several tall IKEA cd shelves (not all at the same time, of course). It's just part of life in the city. Renting a truck is an expensive pain, especially for something you're getting for pennies off craigslist. Just don't trip anyone, and you're good.

Really, really great. I too am dying to know more about the logistics of the loft.

I think that the art is well balanced here, and that if there were more stuff on the walls over the shelves, it would be overwhelming.

I'd like to witness the cat climbing down the ladder-- must be quite a sight!

I think it's awesome that this comfy, stylish home was created from hand-me-downs and thrift-store finds. It reaffirms my belief/hope that to make a house look nice, personal style is more important than money. Love it.

I have a collection of full-page illustrations from an old encyclopedia that I fake-framed successfully. I cut 1/4" plywood into rectangles that were 2" larger than the images on all sides, painted them black, and decoupaged the pages on using Mod Podge. It's more of a pain than framing, for sure, but the result is really nice.

I, too, found it difficult to navigate between discussions on flickr and AT. A centralized forum might be easier to follow.

My music room cure is on the upswing, finally. We painted last weekend- -a cinnamon-y brown on the main wall and "bagel," a buttery yellow, on the others. Nobody mentioned how much physical labor is involved in painting-- I'm still sore! But the walls look great.

Clearing out the furniture for painting made us realize that we have way too much stuff crammed in that space. We're going to try getting rid of my computer and the giant plywood table to open things up. This is a big step, and strikes me as what the cure is all about.

What's really exciting is stopping the "taking things apart" phase and starting the "putting things together" phase. New shelves go up tonight; then we can repatriate all the stuff that's been camped in the living room all week.

We're a little behind on the cure schedule, but will post pix soon, and plan to have a music party on the 17th to celebrate.

Congratulations to everyone for your curing achievements! Even though I haven't been super involved with the online group, it is definitely helpful to know that you all are out there, and I love seeing the progress on everyone's homes.

Apartment Therapy - The Fall Cure: Week 8 - Throwing a Party

Last week I was convinced that my cure was doomed-- mr. gray had a freakout in the Container Store -- but this week he rallied, and we spent all afternoon sorting through music room crap. So that's done. There are piles of stuff all over the floor, but at least I have an excel spreadsheet telling me what it all is!

Today we went back to the Container Store to get in on the last day of the shelving sale, and spent a frightening amount of money on elfa shelving that will go on the guitar wall. It gets delivered next saturday. Yay!

Plus, Mr. Gray has started listing a bunch of gear on e-bay, which is a breakthrough. And last weekend I organized my desk drawers for the first time in about eight years.

We have tomorrow off, so I'm hoping to either make an ikea run for storage boxes to go on the shelves, or to start painting. There's still a lot of work to be done, but it's such a relief to have made some progress that I'm actually looking forward to doing the rest.
