At least until the price comes down, the iPad will only live in my dreams. . .

Even though the temps having been hovering around 90 degrees all week, I don't have AC. A roomful of artificially cold air makes me achy and uncomfortable. Plus it seems silly to be forced to wear a sweater indoors when it's balmy outside. Never had it, never will, much to the eternal chagrin of my girlfriend who thinks air conditioning is an unalienable right.

(I do own a fan so I don't drown in my own sweat at night.)

I think the traditional rug gives your modern living room a dollop of funkiness -- some Nutella -- if you know what I mean! ;-)

In my dreams, in my dreams, in my dreams -- unless my honey is reading this, then I'll take this moment to remind her my birthday is just weeks away!

Ginger Cat Cookies (for People) from Trader Joe's (always in a lavender and white bowl I made in 7th grade ceramics class). And, when I can find them, chocolate covered cranberries -- though I don't recommend them in temps over 60 degrees. Too messy!

We've cut cable back to local channels only -- if my girl can't watch "Law & Order" on a big screen, it gets ugly. It costs $11 a month, and I can handle that, though I really miss live sports. Everything else we watch online. Screw the evil Comcast overlords!!

Great spaces, appalling musical choices.

I keep all the home office equipment on the same surge protector so I can shut everything off at night. And I remember, I try to do the same with the home theater set-up in the living room. I have convinced myself that I'm making a difference!

None. I have a precious little counter space, so every inch is important. On the weekends when my girlfriend visits, the coffee maker stays out, but it's tucked away as soon as she leaves. (I'm not a coffee drinker.)

I'm in Boston. That sounds awesome, and is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm gonna give it try this weekend. Any recommendations on which brand is best?

I'm desperate to get Comcast out of my life once and for all, but I still have basic cable for local channels. Would one of these antennas (I have an HDTV) allow me to get local stations without the scourge that is Comcast? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's no Flash (bye-bye Hulu) and you can't even multitask on the iPad, which makes it less useful than my ancient iBook. FAIL.

Meh. . . if I'm gonna spend money on tech I really don't need, it'll be a Logitech Squeezebox Boom. Frankly, I wish Jobs and Co. had put their big brains into making Apple TV be all it could and should be.

Truth be told, I'm torn. I'm an avid reader, and there isn't a room in my home (save for the bathroom) that doesn't prominently feature books. Plus, I spend too much time already staring at screens. (I even told my girlfriend not to get me a Kindle when she was fishing for Xmas ideas.) Yet, since I take the subway to work, an e-reader would make my commuting/reading life so much easier. I've just started last year's Cheever bio, but it's simply too heavy and cumbersome to carry and hold on a crowded train. I dunno. I love the tactile experience of reading a book, but it's hard to ignore the convenience of a e-reader. Maybe next year. Or the year after that.

Didn't have one for years -- my partner wouldn't allow it, and I was (eventually) OK with that. When we split up, I continued to do without, and didn't really miss it. A few years ago, an especially harsh winter made my drafty living room impossible for evening TV watching, so I bought a TV for the bedroom. There's intentionally no cable hook-up, so it's used only for watching DVDs, and I'm plenty happy with that -- as is the new girlfriend.

(And for the living room, I finally got a nice pair of lined drapes so we can enjoy the surround sound and big screen on those cold winter nights.)

I drink straight from the orange juice container. Been doing that since I was a kid (my mom caught me once, but that's a horror story for another day), and no, my girlfriend has no idea.

Thanks for this. I've been looking for a reliable and attractive replacement for my Tivoli iPal which up and died on me last year. (A $200 radio shouldn't give up the ghost after a couple of years.) That Crosley looks awfully nice; now if I can just get the Logitech Squeezebox outta my head. . .
