I almost purchased the Dexter last spring, as a floor model at MG in Philadelphia. I thought it was very comfortable and stylish. The only reason that I didn't purchase it was because it was upholstered in a pale aqua velvet with ivory piping, and my husband just wouldn't go for it. I ordered several reproduction light fixtures and my kitchen hardware from Rejuvenation this past spring. Personally, I love the floor. I wanted a brightly colored Marmoleum floor in our kitchen, but I couldn't bring myself to commit to something that permanent. So I applaud your bravery. Your space looks similar in size to my own, so I agree with everyone who says the ottoman would be too heavy. We have one, and though I love it as extra seating on the rare occasion when we need it for such, most of the time I feel like it has totally closed in our living area. We have had the IKEA Luftig hood for around three months now, and we are very happy with it. The lights are bright and really illuminate the range top, and the fan is very strong. If I had any complaints, it would be that the fan is too strong (ie. loud). We chose the Luftig for the glass because it had a lighter feel to it than a large, all stainless hood.
