I've decided to reframe 6 prints I have, since the current frames they're in are sad, pathetic excuses for frames (think $1.99 IKEA frames). Fortunately, I can easily replace them with RIBBA frames. I also have a couple other unframed prints around here somewhere. Today I'll dig those out, measure them, and figure out if I can buy frames for them or if I should just bring them to a framer. The IKEA run is going to have to wait til the weekend.

It's been 6 months since I've moved to Seattle and I'm STILL not completely unpacked. :(
So the project I'm choosing is going to help me kill two birds with one stone. Hang all of my art/photos (and possibly reframe some of them) around the house. I know it'll instantly give my home a more finished and lived in feeling AND I'll easily get 2 boxes unpacked!

I have the same problem! We split our living room into two sections, but spend most of the time in front of the TV instead of the fireplace. I thought we would spend so much time hanging out around the fireplace, but we just don't... I want to figure out how to change that.

Don't worry, Dan. TV is just a bunch of big, magical lies. As long as they get everything in place to look pretty, they don't need to expound on the "small" details... like that beautiful 9-burner range doesn't actually work and won't work for 6 weeks until the homeowners can get someone to run gas lines. :)

I'm so enthralled in your renovation project and love that you're sharing all of these details. I can't wait to see how all the pieces eventually fit together!

I love both of them, but I would feel more comfortable in the top room. Though I prefer the art in the bottom room.

I won't be painting my home office, instead I'll be doing a few pairings. Staining two wood desk tops and some matching wall shelves. The legs/drawers and shelf supports will be white.
I decided to make the office visually minimal (but not sparse or empty). Lots of dark, warm wood tones against whites and neutrals.

I'm also adding a seating area with two chairs that need to work together but not be matchy-matchy (one is for me and the other is for the boyfriend). I found this black & white reading chair (which looks more like dark gray and natural white) that I'm 99% sure I'll get, unless it turns out to be horribly uncomfortable. The challenge is now to find another chair that works with this black & white one and that comfortable enough for my boyfriend.

I'll also need to add a side table or two, lots of additional lighting (on the desks and the seating area), probably some sort of basket for storage by the seating area (for knitting projects mainly), and possibly a rug and curtains, not sure on those yet though.

I FINALLY got around to posting my before photos. I made a Pinterest board for this whole project. We're working on the home office, since that's where we spend the majority of our time. I have a general idea of what I want the room to look like, but I really need to start getting it out of my head and onto the board.

I'll be working on the office. I work from home and spend 40 hours a week in here and share it with my boyfriend on Fridays, so it'll be really nice to get this into a space that feels inspiring, focused, and calm.
We only just moved into our house a month ago, so there's not much clutter for us to deal with, just a few office boxes left to unpack.

I'm in the process of packing a box a day (more or less) myself. It worked out well for me, since I was eager to get going but wasn't actually leaving for a month. I have two weeks left until the big day and I'm sure the closer I get to the move day, the more boxes I'll be packing each day. ;)
But it's a nice thing to do when you're a ways out from your actual move date and very eager to just start organizing and packing. It's actually incredibly helpful in figuring out what things you actually WANT to move and what things you can sell or donate.

I'll definitely be giving my kitchen a deep cleaning this weekend. However the cooking will need to be postponed as I'm doing a Juice Cleanse over the weekend and cooked food won't be happening until the middle of next week.

I have a lot of little projects on my list, but I'm going to make "add more storage in the kitchen" the priority.

I'm going to install a couple shelves around the stove (there's lots of open and unused spaced). I'm also going to either hang a curtain wire or install a few hooks over my sink so I can hang some my larger kitchen utensils.
I also want some better knife storage, but that may just be buckling down and buying a knife block. :)

Method offered a limited edition Vanilla Chai hand soap a few months back and it turned out to be my most favorite smelling soap.
Unfortunately, since it's limited edition, they don't offer it in the big refill back, so I had to buy 6 of the individual hand soap bottles.
