While a ladder is a weird gift, this one is GENIUS. I use it constantly in my very tiny studio apartment.

I had a giant - I mean like 108" long - day-glo orange velour sofa I bought from a second hand store for my first apartment. It was arguably the ugliest sofa in the world but my god, a nap on that thing was the stuff legends are made of. When I made the trek from Florida to Connecticut, I had to part with it. I still dream about it.

I'm doing this exact same thing right now! Our tastes are vastly different - I love dark wood, he likes light wood. He also insists that shams are really pillow cases and he can sleep on them. We're still fighting that one out.

As I walk to the subway to go to work, picking tiny short brown hair off my black, cashmere cardigan, I wish I could turn around and go back home, change into my PJs and get back under the covers with my sweet puppy.

I choose my apartment on budget and the minimal commute to and from work. I downsized about 60 SF and upped my rent by $250 by moving from Brooklyn to Manhattan. The convenience and amenities make up for the difference.

One Less Desk would force me to pile on the floor next to it. *sigh*

I adore this apartment. In fact, I stole the expedit-as-a-divider-and-headboard idea! LOVE!!

I love this idea. I wish I could put it to use in my tiny studio apt. Unfortunately, the only wall it would work on houses the A/C sleeve and the radiator. Phooey!

I've been on both sides of this problem. My current apartment wasn't particularly well built. As I was moving in, my passive-aggressive downstairs neighbor complained to everyone (but me) who'd listen about how loud I was. The day I finally confronted her about it was the day I found her staring at me and mumbling to herself "loud-a** bi**h." I basically told her that I complied with my lease regarding carpets and if common noise like someone walking to the bathroom in slippers bothered her, to move her "stupid-a** bi**h self to the suburbs." I haven't heard a peep from her since. On the other hand, my upstairs neighbor walks like an elephant, her dog to run laps in the apartment - where she has no area rugs. It's not constant and it's not usually when I'm trying to sleep so I deal with it. I expect SOME noise in a multi-family dwelling.

There's no such neighborhood as "South Slope." Nice try. Lovely apartment, but please be proud of your actual neighborhood - which is probably Greenwood Heights or (GASP!!) Sunset Park.

Yay! Boxers are always left out - stupid yorkies and pugs! I adore Uncommon Goods for a number of reasons - beautiful gifts, super fast shipping, residents of my old 'hood in Brooklyn, and just all around good people. If they opened a store front (like I've been hinting) I think I'd die and go to heaven!

The Scotch Fur Fighter is worthless, as is the Pledge Fabric Sweeper on the short, prickly Boxer dog style hair. You might fair better with longer hair/fur. I'm just trying to figure out a way to keep his hair off a velvet sofa (face palm). I swiffer daily, vacuum every other day. I have yet to find a product that truly works.

My favorite "snack" as a kid was a soft boiled egg with butter and salt. My mom made the best! Thanks for the reminder (I actually bought egg cups at Crate & Barrel 4 years ago). I know what I'm having for dinner tonight!
