I grew up in rural Maryland with lots of trees and fields all around. That influence never left me. I live in rural Florida now and have a small farmette where we have chickens, bees, a duck, a pond, a barn...very country. I just couldn't have it any other way. You have to be careful about hammock usage. Some places do not allow you to hang anything (even a clothesline) onto existing trees. When you see how scarred some trees are from hammocks and such, you understand the rule. Just check before you buy. 8 Super Helpful, Totally Worth Schlepping Camping Accessories |

The Moleskine Folio is for the iPad ONLY. Nothing from Moleskine will work with the iPad 2 (or the iPhone 4 or 4s either.) A shame, really. A Selection of iPad Cases for the Moleskine Lover |

I wear earbuds when I ride by bike, however it is so low in volume in the background that I can still hear a quiet car creeping up on me from the rear. Just use common sense instead of having even more legislation for no good reason. Would You Support An iPod Bike Ban? |

Due to an inefficient design, I ended up converting our wood fireplace to gas. While I don't use it often (natural gas is SO expensive these days), there is nothing like a small open flame to take the chill out of a room. Survey: The Love Affair With the Fireplace Cools The New York Times |

For rides, day or night, I have come to rely on my iPhone for most things. It tracks my ride, gives me maps if needed, allows me to call for help should I have mechanical problems, allows me to take pictures, and I can listen to music if the ride allows (i.e. long country road.) Water, the iPhone, lights...action. Tech You'll Always Want With You While Biking |

During the REALLY hot summers in Florida (read: every summer), I use my outdoor gas grill as an oven. In fact, we even use it on Thanksgiving Day to cook the turkey. It is easy to adjust the temperature to what it needs to be (everything cooks well at 375 degrees, the lowest setting with two burners going.) I'm almost at the point where I can either bake or grill most of what we eat, so the kitchen stove just isn't used as much. Beat the Heat: Don't Use Your Oven | Apartment Therapy Unplggd |

This is a beautiful tractor shed! It is so unexpectedly modern looking, yet rustic at the same time. I have to show my wife this one...looks like the next building I want to have! Country Tractor Shed: With a Modern Twist | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

My first reaction was "Hey, give me the money!" But, then I realized that I really don't want it either. I lead a pretty simple life (well...as simple as a high school teacher can get) and already have more than I need in so many ways. So, I applaud his actions and wish him the very best at living his new life. We should all be so lucky to be able to reinvent ourselves. Our biggest resolution is to declutter the entire house. Wow, is that slow going. I just donated to a school my deceased father's camera and accessories that I've held onto for 16 years. In all that time, I never even looked at the stuff once. And our house just seems to be full of things like that. Mementos we've held onto just because we've held onto them. It's a big job, but someone's gotta do it! What Are Your Home Resolutions? | Apartment Therapy Los Angeles |
