It's hard when you have more than one child because so many toys are appropriate in between their ages. Also hard when friends and relatives like to give trinkets :) My momma likes to buys packages of random toys (like McDonalds toys and such) from second-hand stores for my kids.

Our cat mostly sleeps at the foot of our bed, and sometimes makes his way up to cuddle, nuzzling his nose under my chin. I love that. However, the ArmsReach Co-sleeper we just set up attached to my side of the bed in preparation for our baby's arrival? No go. I will not have him cuddling up to my newborn. I'm pretty sure he thinks we set up a cozy bedside spot just for him. He's gonna have a rude awakening when the baby comes! I'm trying to break this habit before it starts.

I once heard that if you were going to splurge on any piece of furniture in your home, make it the sofa. You can always change the feel of the room around it if you get tired of what you're seeing, for less than buying a whole new sofa. Since it sounds like you have been doing your research, if you have the budget, I wouldn't worry about price, but quality.
