everything is really well thought-out and very well put together... and of course my mind and eye directly to the uncovered duvet!

the finishes are amazing. the layout well done. the entrance is spectacular! i really do not understand how the before became the after with only a year? were you living in there as sections got completed?!

dimensions and priorities would help... most rooms are 14x14 roughly... and i think whether you want it to function as a living room/activity space rather than bedroom.... or bedroom most of the time and a living room/activity space secondary. try looking up "efficiency spaces" to get ideas.

if this was me i would look into a futon or sleeper sofa or even the "tillary collection" at west elm, or a day bed with lots of cushions to make it a "sofa" during the day.

i am all for styling out your life... but if your office is not a functioning as an office... it just does not make sense. if it was "styled out" with functioning office items that would make more sense and it would have more appeal.

this is a great example of how the right intentions (more space...ie shelving) was used and "styled out" not accordingly.

you do not need a globe, a glass apple nor a spool of grey yarn. also too the items are spread around and are not presented as a collection. maybe proximity could help...ie, push your items closer together.

lovely west elm sofa! i say pair this with the new SOUK RUG from the 2012 spring line. and while you have teal and violet as accent colours.... it would feel a lot better if you picked ONE of the TWO and added MORE of it... think 80/20 with prints in neutral tones. i like the jewel tones as accents... but really the percentage of your accent colours is too 50/50... and nothing reads well.

also ... if you pick violet... you should go all over the shades (darker) and tones (lighter) of the colour... it will add depth to your room.

i am going to pretend this is my home and just give suggestions that i think would make it look ... i guess "more put together"...

i would take everything off the walls.
--as stated above me: the structure and windows and everything else looks interesting. you are gilding the lily.

i would make that grey colour a darker colour.
--i can not tell what it is in the picture. but it is way to light and looks blue and accent walls are not interesting here. paint the sitting room one colour. make it dark. darker than the lamp shade. is the lamp shade a dark purple? because a dark de-saturated plum would be awesome to contrast with the green and yellow glass.

your furniture is way out of scale with the dimensions of the room.
--i would move the larger sofa to the centre of the wall with the window. is that not centre with the tv? i do not care. do it. this is where i am not sure what to do.

get rid of your out of scale wall things. that gecko above your entrance is scary.

get rid of your small chair. go away small chair; no one likes you. you are not helping.

the upholstered ottoman is cool but waaaaay to much overstuffed things.

you and i both know that tv stand was not going to fly. do not angle your tv. it is ugly and not functional. stop it.

i think a rug might help you pull things away from the walls.

get rid of those window coverings in the nook and burn them ... i mean, get some that touch the floor... but better yet the straight down-up roman shades. and then get a book case for that bit of wall and fill that puppy up with the things on that shelf in the kitchen.

try putting all your wall things in one area like the entrance way.

no more pillows. throws. agreed.

thats all i got.

not knowing what the solution is and "being indifferent" are worlds apart.

if there is moisture on the tray... and it gets the leather and you do not let it dry... it could be reacting to the tray coating as well...

surface transfers only happen when moisture is present. did someone spill and not clean it up?

why is that entire nook not a shelving unit yet?

the entire thing needs to be shelving... either with adjustable heights or designed so the fixed heights are helpful with most things. some baskets or some areas with drawers. done.

i agree with juliet leanne! i was once told by someone that using his towel after purchasing it left lint all over his body... to which i asked, "did you wash them before you used them?!" and the response was "no".... mind blown.

am i the only person that thinks a studio is best for just basic function? meaning... everyone wants to "SQUEEZE" entertaining in this studio.

and that is not the point of a studio apartment. this is one reason it is so difficult. i recommend having a full bed. and making the sheets very nice and making your bed every morning. that way your studio is always inviting.

of course this is hard to plan without knowing your priorities. never remove storage from a studio. it will be your undoing...

if the tv and everything else can not change...
i would. paint the back wall a black. everything will disappear. then install ceiling to floor drapes in a colour or a lighter black (charcoal) in a black out weight or velvet. remove all the little accessories from the console and raise the tv (it looks too low)... then i would use a coloured drape for the sliding glass doors in a colour that matches the wall colour or an accent colour.

later, i might switch the tv console for something in white to draw your attention to the tv.

i honestly thought the list was going to be comprised of "do not"....

i am on a budget as well... trust me.
but am i the only one that thinks you should budget yourself at least a mattress?

good 'design' needs a great foundation. i am wary of this article.

maintaining objects at level is not "design"...
and if you are compelled to do anything that makes it impossible for you to go on to another task without completing it... that is a major ocd.

i think we all have quirks... and if it makes you feel better about it; and it harms no one... then so be it.

i think being resourceful and patient make for great design and a greater sense of belonging.

the advice you give is perfect.

have you tried switching the white and wood media unit and the dark wood credenza?

i think i only think this because it would go so well with the white/blonde wood scheme in the kitchen.

everything is so cute!
