Wow, funny! At least it warped in a nice symmetrical way.

What's the purpose of the rounded cutting board? Looks cool, but trying to figure out if there's a particular use.

My Turkish friends love these. They sprinkle a little salt on them. Tasty, but pretty difficult to locate (at least here in DC).

Basil seeds do this as well.

That's what I do as well, but not when I travel, just to bring to work premixed in serving sizes. Everyone always seems to like to put cranberries in these things, but I prefer cherries. I do crystalized ginger, powdered ginger, dried cherries, almond flour, and some powdered milk and brown sugar. And don't forget a pinch of salt.

I'm not a huge soup eater, even when sick, but the best one for a really bad cold in my mind is Penny Soup from Joyce Goldstein's Sephardic Flavors: Jewish Cooking of the Mediterranean. The only ingredients are lemon, egg (whisked in so it just thickens the broth), orzo, and broth. So damn refreshing and soothing for a bad sore throat!

Ooh, wanted Japanese Farm Food, but went with Susan Feniger's Streetfood and Naomi Duigud's Burma. Made Duguid's lemongrass and ginger sliders and Feniger's curry caramel corn for New Years Eve and both were delicious, and big hits!

I regularly take 15 hour flights and I have no problem whatsoever with the pressure changes and using earbuds. I use skullcandy 50/50 earbuds and love them. I was recently considering getting active noise canceling earbuds, but was wondering if it's worth it, since I've heard they're not as effective. I find it really hard to sleep with full headphones on, so I don't think they'd be a good investment for me. I am wondering, though, aside from worries about pressure, whether active noise canceling earbuds are worth the premium.

My favorite take on a veggie burger is from the Food of the Americas. It involves ground hazelnuts and gruyere/manchego, some herbs and spices, and some egg to hold it all together. It is AWESOME.

Overstock and Amazon?? Why buy online when you could go to pretty much ANY "oriental" rug store and they should have piles of them (usually made, as you say, from the rugs that are too ratty for the floor).

I heard that if you have a nice pile rug, you should not vacuum it, but rather beat it outside. Any thoughts?

I love paperwhites and grow them almost every year, but how exactly is this a "hack"?

That is nice, but actually, looks exactly like the monument that sits over the grave of Tamerlane's favored teacher in Gur-i-Amir in Samarkand, which is a tree that holds some hair from a horse.
