I just got an email from Best Buy with a list of 'essential' items for parents. If I were to believe their ad, I'd be set back a cool 389.97 + tax + any warranties + batteries and/or electricity to power these essential items + accessories.. i'd guess in all these items would COST about 1,000.00 +/- over the course of 2 years. It wasn't that long ago that I would seriously entertain the thought that maybe I should find a way to acquire these items. Thank you so much AT for all of your articles with reminders of the value of experiences vs purchases. I'd be lying if I said it didn't take a huge effort to learn to be truly content with these types of activities as opposed to my old way of living outside of my means with eating out 2, 3 times a week, shopping for new things etc. Learning to take advantage of all the amazing things my City has to offer has brought many rewards outside of saving money. I've met wonderful people, and really learned to have an appreciation for my surroundings.
