Wow, this school looks amazing for children with suitable learning styles. My daughter is at an earthier kindergarten version of this here in Denmark and thriving, learning and blossoming in a way she didn't in a traditional kindergarten in our previous country of residence. By no coindidence, the Scandinavian countries are at the forefront of liberalism AND education, not to mention design and creative thinking. Pretty exciting stuff considering the precarious future of our species. What confuses me is, why would anyone in this forum berate this school? No one's imposing it on any of you - or anyone else for that matter. Does every school and every child have to fit a mold? Vive la différence!

PS, How is anyone inferring that this is a Montessori school? Sure doesn't look like one to me.

There must be a magical stuff-to-square footage ratio beyond which, a space is officially cluttered. Anyone know what it is?

In terms of portable snacking, this would be great for yogurt and would save us buying single-serving yogurt drinks for the kid. If used somewhat carefully, this contraption could last through several children. That would add up to a lot of yogurt drink containers. I'm sold!

I'm surprised that no one has suggested combining Elimination Communication (EC) with cloth diapering. With our first, we EC'd from birth, using Bum Geniuses between potty breaks (yes, babies instinctively prefer to use a potty over going in a diaper, especially poop!) and I think I only changed about 10 poopy diapers in 8 months thanks to EC. We started travelling back and forth to Europe after that and switched to disposables because of it but thankfully our daughter was fully potty trained by 2. Now expecting our second baby and looking forward to a repeat EC/cloth diapering experience. Great post, thanks for sharing :o)

I wish all children could be so lucky as to spend their days at your obviously very caring daycare. May this post influence other carers to do likewise!

It would be cool if everyone at the table had a wing/armchair... you'd never want to sit in the living room! Of course, you'd also need a fireplace in the dining room. *dreams...*

What is the difference between normal oats and steel-cut oats? And does anyone know what they might be called in Spain? Gracias!

If you're cooking with aluminum, my goodness but I hope it's well enamelled (but not with Teflon - eek!) and/or used only once a year (or never) - it's extremely toxic.

In other news, this Staub French oven people are talking about oven is intriguing. Must figure out where to see one in person...

Neem oil diluted with water and a couple of drops of dish liquid to break the surface tension. Works like a charm - even on those pesky fungus gnats - and it's good for the plants! As far as I know, most insects are repelled by neem, from bedbugs to mosquitoes.

Our dogs sleep on one of these rugs (yes, they won, too) and we wash it with a little Eucalan in the machine and hang it to dry. Once it's dry, we brush it and, although it's nowhere near as lovely as it was originally, it gets clean, gets some of its loft back and the pooches seem fine with it.

I'm unfortunately with Jensational. I thought I was so smart, installing Alphababy to my Macbook to occupy her sometimes. Big mistake. Now my toddler thinks she has free reign to whack my keyboard anytime she chooses. Although playing in/on the dishwasher seems like a good idea at some times, children will naturally think they're entitled to horse around in it at their leisure. Not only could that be dangerous if it's full or if they close the door on their fingers, it will undoubtedly end up biting Mom and Dad in the butt when they later try to say No. Consistency is key!

We have moved to dryerless Spain from dryer-happy Canada and I don't mind it so much except for the sheets. We're still working on the logistics of that one. Many houses here have an unheated room dedicated to hanging laundry in the winter, with long lines for sheets and towels. Seems like a great idea to me but I don't know if I'll ever get used to the washing machine being in the kitchen as it is in most apartments. :o)

I love the mural. The rest of the nursery (minus the moon) looks like a hotel room.
But hey people, variety is the spice of life. I'm glad not everyone has the same tastes.
