I don't think this trend has hit Minnesota, after moving here from New England I find farmer's market prices to be very inexpensive. Maybe there is not enough demand for prices to be higher, but either way I would choose to buy local and directly from the people who grow the food.

I love roasted broccoli for its wonderful flavor. I probably cook it longer than I should, but if I broil it in the toaster oven, it gets crispy, flavorful and stays very green.

I don't use cookbooks a lot -- more as inspiration. But I would like to learn more and become a much better cook, so I am thinking of going back to cook books to get a stronger foundation so that I can do more improvising in the future.

I like the keys idea, but my husband (the lunch forgetter) rides his bike in the spring and summer. I could put his bike helmet in the fridge, or maybe his lunch in his helmet. We definitely need to figure something out so that he can remember his lunch every day.

This is great! Definitely good to remember and as a small craft business person I do strive to make things that will last long, be useful and be well loved.

I believe that fermented soy (miso, tempeh) is much easier to digest and absorb the nutrients from. If I do use soy products, I always buy organic because otherwise it is surely genetically modified. When I lived in Portland, Maine, there were a local farm that grew its own soy beans and made great tempeh with it. Small farm, organic and local!

Its heartening to hear all of you out there who have significant others who aren't interested in food the way you are. I am in the same boat. I always wanted to find someone who would truly appreciate my cooking and making so many things from scratch. I just don't think its possible to find someone who can fulfill every attribute you want perfectly. I did not feel like I was settling at all for my husband who adores me, makes me laugh and we do share many interests and things that we care about. He likes watching food shows and eating out at many places, but we probably won't be cooking together any time soon.

I guess it just depends on what is most important to you and how this issue is treated in your relationship. If he respects your interests and does his best to understand that this is something that is important to you, I think that is worth quite a lot. If this is an issue that you will always feel unsettled about, then maybe you should let him go. I just don't think you are going to find someone who is perfect in every way, I'm sure there are things that he wishes you liked more, too.

I love Peanut Butter and Jam! I used to eat for most of my lunches while in elementary through high school. Its sort of sad that a lot of schools don't allow peanut butter now because of kids with severe allergies. Maybe they'll grow up with some other favorite classic sandwich.

I often throw a whole carrot into the smoothie and it gets blended in with everything else. I like Avocado, ginger and banana together a lot! I also frequently add almonds to a fruit smoothie and sometimes add peanut butter if it will go well with the other ingredients. I haven't tried greens yet, but I will definitely keep that in mind!

I really appreciate this post because I have been thinking a lot lately about all this busy-ness. It seems like people almost have to be busy these days. Lately I have been less busy and more well rested than I have been in years, and honestly sometimes I doubt myself for this. Why is it that taking time to sit still, to enjoy a moment, to really connect with others does not seem to be valued?
