If you do ship them - please, please, please pack them better than you think you would ever need to. I work for a major package company and every day see so many packages that are damaged due to improper packaging. Usually not enough packing material or an old, worn out recycled box. Do not underestimate the ammount of crushing force placed on your box as it travels through a largely mechanized system. "Fragile" and "Live Plant" stickers help, but are not fail-safe.

Live plants are shipped all of the time, I've seen large plants and small trees in boxes, and those that are packed in new, sturdy, heavy boxes with good packing materials and no voids are the ones that make it. Use some plastic where appropriate in the box to keep the outer packaging dry [wet boxes will be stopped and opened for inspection] and put an invoice/packing slip with your contact info INSIDE the box as labels become illegible all of the time.

I agree with most of the other comments: there are restrictions on shipping plants for reasons we might not agree with or understand - but they're probably pretty good reasons. Maybe you will have good luck finding them a good home? And if you do ship - taking a cutting seems like a prudent measure.

Good luck to you and your lovely plants!

Sandy, it sounds like you are a considerate neighbor who understands what it's like to live around other people. There needs to be some give & take on all parts.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong by smoking on your porch, I feel bad for you that you are vilified for choosing to smoke. Good luck to you and your neighbors in resolving any tensions.

"According the expert McGee consulted, soup or stock left to cool overnight, then reboiled for 10 minutes and properly refrigerated in the morning...."

Am I missing something? If you leave it out overnight to cool, then reboil it, won't you then have to let it cool again before going into the fridge? [Assuming you do not put hot foods directly into the fridge as AT generally recommends.]

I had a friend who regularly left pizza out for a few days and still ate it. So gross. He never got sick, though, must have one heck of a tough stomach/immune system!

I made a floor cloth rug from a Home Depot canvas painters drop cloth. 1-2 layers of interior latex paint and a clear water-based poly coat. It doesn't get heavy every day use but it's holding up well. The paint really "thickens" up the canvas.

I work in a theatrical scene shop and know from experience that muslin and canvas can get very thick/sturdy with some latex paint.

The previous comments are right: check out the wealth of info available on the internet!

I've got a piece of shelf liner - perhaps less attractive, but effective. And for really stubborn/large lids I use a rubber strap wrench.

Love this!

I prefer a more open box as I remember to keep it clean all of the time, and it's no big deal because I do it so frequently. It's in the bathroom but has a "privacy screen" on two sides - helps keep the litter contained and hides it from immediate view, and I painted the screen to be interesting and coordinate with the room.

But I love the box mounted on the door in a less-frequently used space in the house. Clever and bound to be use for for something in my house!

Has anyone noticed a drop in quality of some Netflix streaming movies - since the price hike/split? I feel that several movies I've watched lately were grainier than a DVD counterpart. Example: Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - still pretty "new" and certainly not obscure. I don't expect top-notch quality from a 1980s low-budget tv show, but a recent big budget movie?
I'm in the group of Netflix is OK for now but may get cut if service/selection continues to degrade.

About 10 years ago, in the Philadelphia area, a roommate and I searched for months to find a rental for us and our 5 cats. After 50+ rejections [yes, 50 - we had a 'party' to commiserate that 50th rejection] we found a landlord who was OK with multiple cats. We lived in his properties for 7+ years and it was fantastic.
Guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes it seems like it will never happen but someone, somewhere is bound to be an animal lover like you are! And don't lie about having pets - or the number of pets - you'll be found out.

try Museum Gel/Putty - a clear gel used to hold smooth objects to shelves in (you guessed it) museums and galleries. an internet search will bring up suppliers.
said to hold objects in place through an earthquake... nothing mentioned about house cats, though!

my cats have been living with me [a vegetarian for my foods] for so long, that when my husband [a carnivore] tried to give them a piece of meat - they didn't know what to do with it. he was a little heartbroken that they didn't understand what bacon was for...

but yes, if i had unlimited resources, time, and knew i had the correct nutritional guidelines, then sure i would cook for my "kids". why not? i cook for me.

Every time I checked "My Current Data Usage" the site would not work properly. I went over the cap by 1-2 Gb and they started calling me to sign up for Commercial. I happen to think the Commercial rates are ridiculously high.

I was warned once then talked to Customer Service and told that if it happened again I would be terminated with no warning and no chance to restore my service for at least 6 months.

I switched to Fios and haven't looked back. Unfortunately, Fios isn't available everywhere for everyone [and they're still a pain, but that's another story.]

Congrats on carving out your own workspace. I, too, love anyone who loves their shop.

I'm fortunate to have access to a 25x60' wood shop at work. It's all that ; ) But my true love is a corner of my desk at home, that's kept mostly clear for smaller projects.

B&H is fabulous and ships product quickly but here is something to consider:

Make sure your address is correct when you fill out your shipping information - B&H generally has a "Do Not Address Correct" order on file with the major carriers [I work for one, processing incorrect addresses so I see this a lot] and your product will automatically be returned. Annoying, yes, but true.

And DO NOT use a P.O. Box unless shipping via the USPS - FedEx & UPS *cannot* deliver to P.O. Box addresses.
