RE: Greenwoodgal

Give me a break. You may have forgotten, but previous generations lived in smaller homes with more children. This notion that families have to live in a 2000+sq ft house in order to properly raise children is ridiculous. 2 or more children does not mean you need a McMansion or a big SUV.

I know they're ugly, but those chairs were made to LAST. My parents still own 2 La-Z-Boy rocker recliners that they bought new when I was 3 years old... I'm going to be 30 this year, and those chairs are still very comfortable and in great shape.

Am I the only person who figured out a long time ago that pipe cleaners (like the ones found a craft stores) do the same exact thing?

I lived in a shared 490 sq ft apartment. There were 4 of us (my husband and I, and my bestfriend and his love interest). It was rough at time, but it was made bearable by the fact that their were 2 seperate bedrooms (even though they were tiny), and it was in the center of our small town, so we could always find a place within walking distance to get away to if the other roomies were driving us nuts.

Also, I should add that I'm a compulsive cleaner, and a minimalist- so it made things much more livable.

I made the mistake of reserving a Uhaul (4 months in advance!) to move from Gainesville, FL to Orlando, FL at the end of a college semester. The rental center overbooked and had no truck for us on moving day. I ended up having to drive 1.5 hours away to pick up the smallest truck they rent, and then had it break down half way through the move. 6 hours later they had the truck towed to our new apartment. And all of this was in 95 degree weather. I will never use Uhaul again.

Don't forget Franck Eggelhoffer from Father of the Bride II. He was the party planner for the first one and decorator for the nursery in the second one.

I guess I'm the odd man/woman out, but I lived in 525 sq. ft. with my husband and 2 other people. It was a 5 room place (2 bedrooms, kitchen, living, and bathroom) suited us just fine, and was very affordable.
The best part was keeping it clean... the 4 of us would only take about an hour to make it sparkle from top to bottom.

We have since moved out after having children, and now live in 1583 sq. ft. with 4 of us. Our place is cozy to our friends and family, but is huge to us. I see us having no problem adding 2 more foster children to our family and still having enough room with 6 of us in total.

We don't decorate till the first Sunday in Advent (this year it's 11/29), and we take down the decorations on Epiphany Sunday. But I'm old school Episcopalian.
