looks great, this is almost the same layout as my bathroom except our toilet is beside our vanity, and we will removing a closet in the same spot to make the bathroom bigger, kind of nice to see what ours will look like in the future- long and narrow- but stylish!

you could use fun-tak (mounting putty) if you don't want a million holes in the wall.

its the design of furniture, not the size, thats the issue for me, those wide flared arms are nothing but wasted space. i have no problems with a wide seat on a chair or sofa but its the big clunky arms that kill it! a space can be full and layered without giant pieces furniture, its mixing styles, textures, and textiles that make a room appear full along with the staples; seating, surfaces, lighting, etc.

most of my family is guilty of this, and yes were in the burbs...

what color are your walls? its hard to tell if they're beige or white. i agree with another commenter that i'd go with more red than orange since orange is so close to brown, i'd also add more WHITE to lighten and brighten and contrast the brown, and keep it looking so muddy.

here a 2 great rooms with brown/white/red/gray color scheme

we are going with the same color scheme in our family room, were keeping all the large pieces neutral and adding red in with art/accessories- i'd go for bright bold graphic pillows- large scale pattern (i found some great red/white white stripe chevron ones on etsy). you could also use some art/prints... and a cool vintage mirror painted red would be nice over the credenza. i dont see any lamps in the room either, a red lamp or a neutral lamp with red ribbon on the shade would be nice...

We have the same little tikes bounce house too, got it for our sons 2nd year birthday- hes now 4 and its been one of our best purchases to date! in the summer we can take it outside... its a huge hit for partys/play-dates! In the cold months (we live in WI) we can bring it into the den, theres just enough space, and the kids can burn off energy!

i've never tried homemade smoothies, and was wondering what vegetables have a mild taste that would be masked with a fruit smoothie?

I've been trying different ways to get veggies into my picky eater (my son has autism and won't touch veggies at all)

Iris... your rug turned out great!

I really want to try this whenever I get out to ikea to get a cheap plain rug... love the idea of graduating the color on the mat too... i'm thinking different shades of teal/peacock blue.

I would say wood, leather or upholstered, easily washable! We have ikea henriksdal chairs found on craigslist for super cheap, with the beige microfiber covers, and they get SOOO messy from my toddler, but they come out looking brand new every time I wash them. I couldn't imagine upholstered chairs that weren't slipcovered at this point in time, maybe when the kids are older!

anyone have any ideas on how to make a slipcover for a semi-attached-cushion sofa?

my sofa is in dire need of a cover, and i would like one that looked tailored, instead of the sure-fit ones.

I love it! My husband and I have been eyeing the godmorgon cabinets for our future bathroom remodel, you can store so much in the drawers that you dont need much counter space, so i won't be tempted to leave my makeup/hair stuff on the counter!

how is the quality if the sink/vanity? how was installing it?

i think you need something to anchor the seating area... IMO the room pictured is screaming for a little coffee table/ottoman. right now were using a leather storage ottoman as we have little ones, but i've been keeping my eye out for a good looking vintage coffee table... or something to diy. we use the ottoman all the time, for coloring, for snacking, for resting our feet, for storage, i can't imaging not having anything there!

... and now it occured to me that that little person could also be a she... i have a little guy who has been mistaken for a girl in neutral colors, sometimes its so hard to tell at that age, and i shouldn't assume based on the blue shirt!

so i'll correct myself and say that little person is ADORABLE! sorry!
