Rarely. Technically it's my husband's work iPad, but his office has basically all but said it's his to keep. Anyway, it lives at our house and I can use it whenever I want, but I usually reach for my laptop instead. Reader Survey: How Often Do You Use Your iPad? |

When I was growing up in the 80s my parents had a half-door blocking off the stairs to the basement in our ranch-style home. It came down when my brothers and I were well into grade school, but I think the hinges were still in place until I left for college...possibly they are still in place. I agree with Kandyce78. Sure, some people need to learn to be polite when giving a criticism, but criticism in itself is not impolite and may actually help you think about something you didn't before. 5 Things to Take Away From Any DIY Project Post (Even If You Don't Love It) |

I think the before is just a poorly lit photo. It's still seems like it would be stunning. But the second pic makes it look obviously brighter, and the gold accents make it seem more expensive. I think the after may be better if only because this house will stand out compared to the one next to it painted in the dark mauve palette. Before & After: Painting a San Francisco Victorian |

@Lynell they compared the impact savings to their bleached recycled version. I would think that bleaching would have caused the paper to be more rough/dry, so unbleached should, in theory, be softer. In the News: Bring on the Beige … Toilet Paper? |

I'm a fan of having space around the sides of your bed for holding books or resting your feet on while sitting on the edge. I think this could work -as people mentioned above- if you add bolsters or cover up the slats that peak out. Full Mattress in Queen Frame? Good Questions |

That's great because you went to somewhere warm and you don't always need to wear a lot of clothes. But what about travelling to northern Europe where long sleeves and pants are needed constantly? Well Designed Travel: How to Pack Lightly aka Fitting Everything I Need for 3 Months Into 2 Bags! |

I dog & house-sat for someone who let the pup sleep in their bed. I was supposed to be able to use her bedroom but I just couldn't. There was tons of dog hair in the brand-new sheets and that skeeved me out so I slept on the couch all week. Reader Roundup: Pets in Your Bed? |

I lived in England for a little while and went to grad-school in Australia. I've definitely picked up a few good home-habits as a result. I have embraced the brilliance of the electric kettle, and air-drying my clothes inside. I *wish* I could install switches on the outlets but I'm a renter. Also I don't grocery shop that often but I do wish we had smaller refrigerator options that weren't just "dorm" fridges. It would just be more efficient for a smaller household like mine. I use it (as mentioned) in baking and cooking for a smoky or robust flavor in vegetarian recipes. I feel it is less bitter/metallic than normal instant coffee. I can get the jar for under $4 at my local speciality/gourmet grocers (check places other than chain stores!). Espresso Powder in the Kitchen: What's it Good For? |

I have changed my battery charging habits on my phone and laptop and they do seem to last longer (hold longer charges) than old ones. I can't say if that's all up to my use changes, or better engineered batteries, but I like it regardless. Why You Shouldn't Leave Your Cell Phone Plugged in at Night |

My husband bought a 12pack of some boxed noodle mix that he really likes and we can't find in any grocery store in a 20 mile radius. With free shipping from Amazon, it came out cheaper than what we would have paid at a local store. Do You Buy Ingredients or Specialty Foods Online? |

I use a Melika single cup 5 days a week. I do think the flavours are bolder than traditional drip methods, and there's less silt than French Press (which I use on the weekends). Pour-Over Coffee: Does it Make a Better Brew? |
