I'm still working, but I had major computer problems and had to rebuild my machine and now I can't remember the password or id for my flickr account, so I can't participate there again until I make a new account. But I've been getting things done on my one room project.

I did everything on the week one list, and skipped ahead a bit to painting the walls, because as you can see, I have my work cut out for me! http://flickr.com/photos/monstertown/2315679354/ The hardest part of week one was setting a budget that might realistically address all of the repairs that i need to do, when I hope to spend under a hundred dollars!

We installed one of these in our kitchen two weeks ago and it is the best thing we have done for our house so far. We bought the 14" solartube and installed it ourselves in about two hours. It completely transformed our windowless kitchen. I highly recommend these. I think it cost us around $200.

I'm signed up and ready to start! I think it will be a one room cure for me this time. I'm working on a home office.

I was thinking the same thing. This setup must have been strictly for the photo, because they would surely mark the boots!

Very nice indeed! We are two intense weeks in to a low budget green remodel on our first house, it's really nice to see what you've done.

Oh my goodness, what a cool giveaway! I would love to have this. My whole family would love this. We would alternate between rocking out to loud music, and listening to nerdy audio books.

Sunset's a great magazine. The recipes, the photos and ideas, and I love the "what to do in your garden this month" feature. I'd love to win a subscription.

I would make loads of grilled cheese sandwiches for my kids and all the neigborhood kids when they come over to play. And I would make pear and brie sandwiches with fig and olive spread, and I would make roasted yam sandwiches with goat cheese and greens like at the Atlas Cafe in SF. I'm hungry just thinking about it!

I'm doing a lot of carpet removal myself, just bought a classic fixer upper (our first home) complete with the requisite 30 year old wall to wall burnt orange sculptured shag. Nice to know that there are carpet recyclers, I'm going to look into it. I was thinking we would have to take 900 sq ft of carpet to the dump, and I'd rather avoid it since we're doing a green remodel.

I am lucky enough to live on the same street as little green, and this is my most favorite house to visit. It's warm and inviting and cozy. I love the kitchen most of all. Well I love the garden most of all, but the kitchen is really good. The kitchen table is an old library table, and the bench is a church pew that is painted and reupholstered. This house is colorful and full of art and books and collections of interesting things.

And to answer shenanigans, yes, that is teeth in the artwork above the tatami in the kitchen. It's a large scale ceramic piece by Todd Barricklow.

My neighbors have this tile in a larger size in a matte finish in their bathroom and it looks fantastic.

My kids and I collect heart shaped rocks. You'd be surprised at how many there are if you're looking. I also keep a vase of lichen covered sticks, because I just really like lichen. There are big walnut trees on my street that drop lots of them.

I love Mrs. Meyers. It works really well and makes me feel happier when I clean. I buy a large bottle of the all purpose cleaner and make up spray bottles of cleaner diluted with water. And pumpkindoodle speaks the truth about vinegar, baking soda and bon ami.

Seventh Generation makes a nice toilet bowl cleaner that smells like cedar and works great.

I've been making furniture polish too, out of olive oil, lemon juice and a few drops of lavender essential oil.

I don't care for the scents of the method cleaners, they don't smell natural and good to me.

We love our butcher block. It helps that my boyfriend enjoys planing and oiling it. We were thinking that part concrete, part butcher block would be perfect.
