I'm not a fan of the gold cabinets in the first one but look at the cabinets under the breakfast bar. That's totally doable with just Ikea cabinets installed in a staggered pattern (would be nice to see how they address the end pieces but I could see a shelf cubby for storage or something). Often it is the little details, like the brick pattern of the cabinets, more than the shiny "WOW" details that really make a room.

I am in love with No. 5, the tension rod and plate combo. Google is only badly translating the site linked. I can't tell if there are DIY instructions or what.

Has anyone made such a craft? If so do you have instructions to post?

Same here MEBJohnson, makes me a bit uneasy!!! Then again if they put a copy of Fahrenheit 451 in the stack then I think it would liven it up and make it far more tongue in cheek.
Currently, our fireplace needs to be capped, water infiltrates it, but once we have it capped I'd love ideas on ways to use it that aren't "traditional". I could see a fireplace being a good place to display board games. Or perhaps an article on some sort of DIY sculptural items. I personally love the fireplace candelabras but whenever I find one I like it costs an arm and a leg. Would love advice on a cheap DIY solution!
