If you find the right tea, the Tea Pop recipe from David's Tea (http://www.davidstea.com/recipes) is great!! I find it works really, really well with fruit or herbal teas.

I don't have many houseplants (because they die within days of entering my home), but I know this has worked for deterring my three little furballs of terror whenever I bring home fresh flowers: fill a water bottle with water and add 5-10 drops each of Eucalyptus oil and lemon oil. Shake well, and spray on the plants every several days (I usually only have to spray once on fresh flowers; by the times the cats start to show any interest, it's time to throw them out, anyway). This has worked wonders for us! I used to not be able to keep flowers around for more than a few hours, let alone days.

The "before" picture looks so eerily similar to my first condo's kitchen that I thought this post must've been from one of my neighbours, but it turns out it's not even the same country. Also, WOW, what a transformation! Gorgeous!

I agree with the comments that say the current art is too small. You could either remove it and put something bigger there, OR you could do something like a gallery wall and put up MORE pictures, in varying sizes.

Ideas for Living Room that \"Needs a Little Something Else\"? Good Questions

I think it all depends on the roommate. My husband and I have two: one is my best friend in the whole world, and we have a grand ole time. The other roommate is kind of a pain in the butt, actually; he doesn't help with chores unless repeatedly asked, his space is always a mess, and more than once I've had to remind him that bills are a thing and he has to help pay them. If you get along with your roommate, it can be the best experience ever, but if not, you're going to be pretty miserable.

I'm all for cozy, but my husband prefers minimal. We first realized this during our first actual fight as a couple, which of course happened in Ikea, and occurred because we totally disagreed on whether we should get the squishy, rounded, tastefully-floral-patterned couch (me) or the modern, hard-looking, chrome-and-leather couch (him). We did eventually compromise, and have been successfully doing so ever since, with the exception of the age-old argument over whether or not the toaster remaining on the counter qualifies as "clutter," which will probably never be resolved to both our satisfaction.
