I go back and forth with this. I have never lived in a single family with my kids and we do so much to keep them quiet, but it's their home. We don't let them run around the house screaming (occasionally if our neighbor isn't home we will), we are aware of how heavy they are on their feet, etc. But they are kids-I don't want to limit them too much! And it doesn't offer incentive that our neighbor is crazy and has screaming matches with people regularly! I think she makes more noise than our kids! We are a family with limited technology-while we purchased an iPad two months ago, neither my husband nor myself have a smart phone, we have basic basic cable, etc. While I think that technology is beneficial to kids and that they need to be aware of what is around since schools are now using things too, I think it's used WAY too often. It's so refreshing to see this. I have recently read an article in Boston Parent's Paper about how writing a thank you note isn't necessary-emails, texts, etc. are acceptable! I was shocked!
