I investigated what would be the best non-carpet flooring to have with my dogs a few years ago. I nixed the cork idea based on what I'd read about dog's nails tearing up cork after a while. Overall, white oak or Brazilian cherry seemed to have both (1) the best "janka" numbers (hardness) to hold up to things like dog nails and (2) the wood grain that best hides scratches. (I keep my dogs' nails trimmed, but scratches happen inevitably).
If you go with hardwood, you'll also need to decide between a wood floor finished "on sight" or engineered planks. I went with a flood finished on sight. I chose it because I wanted a natural/clear finish rather than a stain (it's medium in color as the wood ages) and I didn't want the beveled edges that come with most engineered wood (because of the color change over time on the beveled edge).
That said, my friend got engineered wood at about the same time I got my floor. The finish on the engineered wood - because it is applied in factory setting conditions - is extremely strong and has held up well and prevented more scratches from her two large playful dogs better than my floor would.
My other friend had a maple floor installed. I thought it would be quite durable. But the scratches from her golden retrievers show up all over. My friend, however, appreciates the "patina" of it all.
Last, you'll have think about the color of floor you want. I love the dark wood floors. But they show dust and dog hair with great emphasis. That is another reason I went with the white oak.
So hopefully this info helps you in figuring out what works best for you.

Very nice. I'm looking at redoing my bathroom and would to know about the shower wall/door. It looks like there actually is no door, but rather the area where you step into the shower remains open. I've been told that I don't have enough space to do that, but my area seems quite similar to your "before" photo. Do you mine sharing the scoop on the shower door/glass wall and how it is working out for you? Thank you.

A water/sand wheel. Great for the bathtub, sink, sandbox, kiddy pool, and water/sand table. It actually teaches pre-math concepts of size, volume, and gravity.

Lots of possiblities for this beautiful wood! Keep the sliding door on the tub/shower or replace it with another one, but don't replace it with a shower curtain. Per my home-inspection contractor, you will go a long way to preventing water dammage if you keep the shower door.

It might be difficult to replace the entire vanity b/that will get into the footprint on the tile. But painting the vanity and replacing the light fixture over the mirror would be a good thing to do. You could get some lights that look a little like outdoor beach lights, like: http://www.seagulllightinglights.com/collection/seagull-lighting-sebring-collection.html

Love it. There is a lot of stuff going on - but nothing seems cluttered. And I would have expected that a heavy urn on the acrylic coffee table would not look right - but it looks great.

I have Sherwin Williams' Rice Grain (SW6155) on most of my walls. I like it a lot and get compliments on the color. It's a light, barely warm, more cool grey color. I live in Alaska, so I did not go darker on the continium of greys on the color-card, but if I lived in a place that received more light during the winter, I would go a shade or two darker.
