Ah! They are so beautiful. To say nothing of this room. Texture I adore, adore...

I was totally stressing too, but then my clever hubby stopped at our local small hardware store. You know the kind with shelf space for every screw type made, ever? With decades old spray paint mixed in with new plastic versions? $16.99 for a big galvanzied can. We bought two.

Office design! I have to plot and plan how to make my space tolerable for human habitation without making too much of a statement. Lest I get labeled as "creative." (When accompanied by a cocked eyebrow this otherwise happy term can sometimes indicate "frivolous" or "not promotable.")

Gotta love Soulard! Even with all the (awesome, really awesome) farmer's markets popping up all over town, Soulard is still the best. Crowded, cheap, and more stalls than you can possibly patronize...pretty much the ideal market.
Pro tip 1) Bring a cute kid (sans monster stroller) and get tons of freebies.
Pro tip 2) Vendors in the center usually have better prices!

I'll echo tands up there and say that I love creative cuisine, but we always have a better time camping when the food is stress-free. The best was last time when we only brought veggie dogs, fruit salad, tetra-pak milk, a jug of water, pretzels, vegan marshmallows, and premade breakfast burritos. High-protein, low fuss, and a small cooler. It was great.

Oh, excellent re-post! I was just thinking of going out to get (of all things) another mint, but now I see there is no need. Thanks for the heads-up!

How exciting! My little man loves his sand-box, his mud pit, and his own garden space. I think everyone else has great ideas. I've been dreaming of a blank canvas like this with a mad scheme to plant a field of mint and violets and rip out my zoysia. Just imagine the mowing experience!

Mine was never the same after a sad encounter with a friend's dishwasher.

Hubs stepped up and bought me a "fancy" espresso machine, but, I tell you what, I still miss my Bialetti.

How did ya' know I've got some sprouting up on the windowsill right now?!
Wheatgrass is so easy-peasy to grow, the seeds are viable for forever (I say with exaggeration for rhetorical effect...ehem, my seeds are still good from last year), and make for yummy nibbles/a country fashion statement when the mood strikes. Which it often does.

Maybe produce mesh? Really that is a clever idea if you prefer to DIY a very scrubby sponge.

We use former bath towels for dish cloths. Very scrubby, very washable, and very guilt-free disposal at the end (if and when it ever comes.)

A good art paper section is worth it's weight in temporary decorating gold! My son has the Cavallini alphabet and US state map and talks about them all the time. My favorite wall object right now is a reversible umbrella print by smockpaper.com.
