Baking pies with blackberries from my English gran's garden, for sure. She didn't even have a refrigerator, which was pretty shocking to me as a child of modern invention from California!

I know it's en vogue to act as if it's somehow more reasonable to kill another living being if we engage with it on cognoscente terms, but this is depressing!

How about just not killing the alive thing, for crying out loud. Skip the poor crab, and eat a tasty Other Thing that was grown in a yard, where there are ample learning opportunities about where food comes from.

Not trying to be a dick here, but teaching kids that it's okay to kill another living thing because it benefits our taste buds for like 3 minutes is a slippery slope, I think.

It's not "key lime pie" because it doesn't have dairy in it? it's called KEY LIME pie, not milk PIE.

Trifle, flan, rice puddings, treacle, rhubarb pie. My mom was an awesome pastry shef, we had glorious desserts almost every night. Miss it so!

I recently read that polypropylene is leaching in food containers. There is a study underway to see how it affect consumers who ingest it over long periods of time. It was discovered as science labs were getting skewed results from test tubes made with the stuff. Plastic is pretty gross, BPA is just one of many concerns.

This will come off as insane, no doubt, but I think of these things so here goes. What is the deal with something like this and pesticides? I know not to buy conventional tomatoes because they are at the top of the list for chemicals, but would it be the same for non-organic ketchup? Are you ingesting a bunch of gross pesticides when you eat a product like this? Better off with a plain old organic ketchup?

I cry when I see people painting over wood. I would have just bought and stained to match a butcher block counter and worked with the woodsy vibe. Put in a hanging fern over the sink and a big stainless globe pendant with cut-outs, painted the walls Swiss Coffee, and added a full curtain with green and blue tones to balance all the wood. I think the biggest + in this remodel is the de-cluttered counter. To each his own, of course!

Candy is trash! Delicious, poisonous trash. From the slave traded ingredients to the lead laced chocolate, most Halloween candy is pretty evil.

Pressed garlic, sliced avocado on top of chili or most bean based soups.
